Gillian can go over the top sometimes on something not really that spectacular. And she does tend to retread her phrases. You're right; John's a good foil for her. Brings an everyday Joe's perspective to the game. He always brings a smile to my face.

I like both of these English commentators. I agree with OHMAHGAWDZ that each is better when paired up with someone. But the broadcast budgets are probably too small to have two commentators for each and every tournament.

Plus I wouldn' t be surprised if Ms Clark has a "no-Burgess" clause in her contract. Can you imagine their after-work dinner conversations?
-JB: "Did you see the muscle definition on that sirloin I ordered? Absolute perfection! I'm tingling, Gill, absolutely tingling in anticipation of dessert!"
    -GC: "My word!"

John Burgess is bias, unfortunately, the teams/players he praise lost at most of the time I watch. :D

I agree with you on that one. With the way he talks about LCW, KKK/TBH, fuzzy, you'd think he was getting paid to make them look good! I don't think it makes too much of a negative impact on his commentating though, as it's quite fun to hear his reaction if his favorite player/team loses. :D

    Thanks for the reply,
I watched the video of that particular games, I remember the comment he made, but I wasn't aware that was Paul E Larsen's voice.

I had a photo taken with him, at the US open in OCBC( 1996 ?), Orange County, CA.
he was very friendly, and very pleasant guy..

JB reminds me of Stuart Hall commentating on Ninja Warrior (UK members will know what I mean):D. He's not particularly knowledgible, but he's certainly enthusiastic. Put him with Gill and he's tolerable; on his own he tends to wander a bit.

Must say I prefer Morten to Paul-Erik Hoyer, but either one is excellent. I hope Ken Jonassen considers giving it a go now he's retired, but my dream team would be Gill and Gade...

Wow. That would be cool! How's Gade's English? I've always wondered how it would be like to spend a couple of hours in his mind. But I'm sure he knows his badminton, so it would be nice to hear his thoughts about it.

Gade's English is very good indeed (better even then Hoyer's, whose is more than sufficient for a couple of hours of English commentary) so he wouldn't have any problems at all. Gade has given dozens of interviews in English - you can find a lot of them on Youtube.

    Funny commentary

    .
Talking about funny commentary, this one (which is sometimes heard) I think is most funny: "What a beautiful stroke, but the shot went out !!!". :D:D:D

BTW, this is not about GC. :):):)
