Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a string combo that could deliver a big punch but with little sound? The opponent wouldn't hear it coming! I'm asking 2 things. 1: Is it possible? 2: If possible, what combo would work? Thank you all for your time!

Just put vibration dampeners on the strings.

No, it wouldn't be awesome. If anything, strings that make a louder sound are better IMO. I see where you're coming from with the deception point of view but I just like the sound that some badminton strings make when you strike the shuttle well.

The speed of sound is about 761mph. Pros smash to the tune of 200mph. So if a player base their reaction to the sound of the smash then their action would not get triggered till the birdie is already one third of the way.

Personally I don't think I even "hear" my opponent's smash since I would be intensely staring at the birdie when waiting for the smash. The sound serves more of an encouragement for the hitter imo, and for the spectator of course :D

Not sure about that. The player might set up to receive a smash, from the visual stimulus, then 1/3 of the way they hear the sound and it is not what they are expecting. This may cause indecision. The effect wouldn't last more than a couple of points I wouldn't imagine though.

weave rubber elastic bands on your stringbed.
Weave enough of them until u r happy with the shuttle impact noise suppression. As a plus, the rubber bands will provide u with superb shuttle gripping ability for great slicing shots and tumbing shuttle at the net.

i'm think for me personally, the sound actually works as intimidation, similar to players giving a quick shout before smacking the birdie. it certainly intimidates me a bit if i hear that popping sound, but of course after you play against a certain player for a while, you'll sorta get use to his/her style of playing, and the sound is just a smokescreen.
