If I were an Indian, I would similarly support Saina all the way. However, being neutral I must say that Saina needs a little more time to hone her skills further and to gain more international exposure. If she continues to work as hard as she does now to show further improvement, her chance at the next WC will be much, much stronger! The China Wall has to collapse eventually in the face of this invasive Indian onslaught. Maybe she should set her target to win the All England first.
Therefore my preference are : 1) Tine Rasmussen 2) Zhou Mi 3) Saina Nehwal 4) Maria Kristin But I am not Indian. Just prefer underdogs.
I hope WL will be better prepared this time, she was out of gas and defenseless in the 3rd game at the recent Indonesia Open final when playing against Saina Nehwal. They might meet again at WC QF, best wish to both of them.
WYH's rise to the top has been nothing short of amazing. However since players have started figuring her out, she's fallen back to the pack a little. That said I think she still has the make up of a champion. I don't trust WL's consistency. She comes across as clueless from time to time. And her gas consumption is notoriously bad, leaving her vulnerable in the 3rd game. And she's got to do something about those eyebrows
Maybe she should 'thin' her eyebrow to make her look more 'feminine'. That's why I still bet on the more consistent and steadier old guards to give the younger girls a good fight. That's why I think ZM as WR1 has a good chance to be crowned World Champ this year. Considering that most BC voters are young (I assume), it is not surprising that WYH garnered 48 votes (37.2%) and poor ZM got only 12 (9.3%) and even WL secured a higher 14 (10.8%) thus far.
I voted for XXF. I really hope she has the motivation to give it one more push. Skill-wise, she's still up there with the best
Yes, she's in the leaque of ZM and TR but like TR, she's prone to injuries and her recent performances were somehow lethargic and unimpressive. If only LD could pass on some of his fitness and strength, XXF will be quite a different Amazon. ZM, on the other hand, seems to be much fitter although she has to carry a "much heavier body weight" and like many of the CHN girls, she is heavily strapped up at the waist. But on most occasions, she could stretch far to retrieve unlikely shots. Apart from height compensation, she also commands excellent footwork, IMO.
Saina down with chicken pox!! Saina is unlikely to participate in this year's tournament. Huge setback for Indian fans and Indian badminton. :crying::crying: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...chicken-pox-Gopichand/articleshow/4836479.cms
If she can, think about the training time she has lost. That would certainly tip the scales in WL's favour.
IMHO even if Saina gets well in time, it would be better if she skips and recuperates well. Many players have destroyed their careers trying too hard to get into playground than their body would have allowed. There is still time for her to try next year.
I certainly agree. Please don't give her added pressure and let her recover well before resuming training.
Indeed.. ..somewhat of a reprieve for Wang Lin... Tough luck for the fans and her supporters who are ready to give their full support in the stadium. A speedy recovery to Saina..
Ouch, and the jinx continues So is it confirmed that SN withdraw from WC? ..... Right after TR, WMC and MKY now SN following their footsteps :crying: maybe it's because of the jinx? or is it the price that they had to pay for shaking great walls of CHN WS? Hehe .... Anyway get well soon for SN This chicken pox things surely cames in wrong time, during her preparation for WC in her own homeground But oh well, it won't haunt her forever Hope speed recovery for her and better luck next time
