wow, that would have to be VERy precise...a fraction of an inch too low and it will tumble and land short...
i can serve quite well using mavis (ie serving without aiming or thinking about it). However with feather, it is tougher because at our levels, feather shuttles are inconsistent; different brands, different tipping, steam versus no steaming, using the feathers for longer duration. If i can use AS50 or F-# series shuttles, and able to change for a new one every few rallies, I can serve just as good as mavis. Same goes for taping the net as well.
^^Off topic-In other words..^^ ..you'd like to play with a tube of brand new AS-50, when playing with feather shuttles..Otherwise, you're sticking with the Mavis shuttles??.. Is this, serving, the reason for you despising using feather shuttles?? (and all those brouhahas with Mr. T)??..
yes and no. i don't despise feathers. Feathers and mavis have their good and bad points. I always had said in a contest of skills, object used is indifference if both sides use it. In taping the net, it helps ALOT if the shuttle performance stay consistent as long as possible. One sure way to maintain feather consistency is to use top grade feathers and change it if u have any doubt. This practice is not only reserved for pros, we can do it too if AS50/F-# cost is not a concern.
The tape, believe it or not, sits right on top of the net. It is also known as the white line which forms the top of the net rofl.
Sometime when i serve a really low underhand serve it hits the middle of the tape and bouces over but isnt short.it shouldnt be that hard to do because im not that goood
