I'm currently debating whether to go to Japan or not, but if I do go I would like to attend the Japan Open. Does anyone know how much tickets usually go for and where I can buy them? Thanks in advance!

You can buy it online when the details are out. I'm planning to go there as well. Might have to attend this one.

    good news bradmyster,
adulthood is reached at 20 in Japan. Drinking and all other forms of entertainment can be done at 20.

sure to my knowledge. But I'm trying to find the interested in play in part with the tournment. Is there any way of becoming acustom in that seat. I enjoy the fundamentals in Badminton and I'm reaching my goals.

Japan Open is not as exciting as Indonesia Open. The crowd is very much reserved and tickets are more expensive. I have attended all the Super Series and other major events. For me, I would rank the the super series events (based on excitement and fun) as follows:
    1. Djarum Indonesia Super Series
    2. Proton Malaysia Super Series
    3. Hongkong Super Series
    4. French Open Super Series
    5. All England Super Series
    6. Aviva Singapore Open super series
    7. Japan Open Super Series
The "must" see is the Thomas Cup, wherever it will be held.:)

    ^^A bit off topic-Thomas & Uber Cups..^^

..were held in Japan not too long ago, in 2006. Was the atmosphere (excitement and fun), more or less, the same as the regular Japan Open SS??..
I think places & venues play more important role than the type of event. I doubt if Thomas or Uber Cups are held in say New Zealand, it will have the same affect as when they're held in Jakarta or KL or China.
On the other hand, you throw a pretty significant baddy tourney in one of the badminton hot-beds in the world, and i'm pretty sure people and die-hard baddy fans will flock to see the actions. Some baddy die-hards will even fly half-way across the Pacific Ocean to witness the actions.;)

Huh, French Open more exciting than All-England? Surely the atmosphere now is no longer as "polite and reserved" as 19 years ago when I last attended the tournament.

What made the French so, ahem, exciting anyway?

The French Open MAY BE more exciting because the crowd is nearest of the games..

I don't fancy being too close anymore, now that I'm "retired" from cheerleading. Being at the most elevated position is best for commentary.

JO this year clashes with Eid Festivals. So for me at least, not likely to go to Japan when the hometown beckons.

The French crowd appreciates good matches. Most of them are not supporting any particular player or team, except of course whenever the French players are involved. They cheer and applaud good shots and boo unsporty attitudes.:)

Just curious. How is Hongkong Open behind Proton MAS but better than French Open? Is it the lion dance?
I can't imagine any other tournament being even near to Djarum Indonesia. It's like one exhilirating badminton party atmosphere.
