Ants is no newcomer to Singapore. He has relatives here.
I thought you have stayed in Singapore before or have you migrated to Australia for studies. You may still have relatives and friends here who many be able to accommodate you. Good Luck. :D

Rudy is right. The right word for the song is "gelang", nothing to do with Geylang.

Hey they should play this song in 'the Little Nonya' instead of the Burung kakak tua song. :D Too bad the venue was in Malacca instead of Geylang, Singapore.

    From peranakan.org.sg

    For the bolded refrain:

    Geylang like nail
    Geylang the butterfly
    Go home, lets go home..
    Lets go home together
    Go home, lets go home..
    Lets go home together

    Thanks for the translation. :D

I just wonder why the composer should equate "Geylang like nails", instead of
"like ferns" since butterfly and ferns are better suited for each other.
Indeed Geyland is full of Lady Butterflies. Nails are too sharp, cold and hard! Or could it be that Lady Butterflies have to face the harsh realities of Geylang for a living? :(

    "Butterfly, go home...
    Go home to the ferns
Lets all go home together..." :p

The Premium Season pass gives you premium seats - the seats closest to the action.
