hi, i got a very important question!! is that okay for badminton players to drink coke while playing?? does coke reduce the performance?? thanks!!!
it doesnt matter what drink u drink during a badminton match. what does mattter is your badminton game and your performance btw, i remember i always see peter gade drink coke when he play badminton in malaysia
When we talk about soda, we usually refer to something which is ice-cold, in that sense, it's not advisable to drink coke during or after the match as your body still sweating unless you want to try warm coke
Probably western doctors say it's ok to drink something ice-cold after exercise. But Chinese doctors always suggest avoiding ice-cold any time not just even after exercise.
drink coke while playing badminton?? meaning while playing MD, hold a can of coke??? nice technique....
Oh no. I always do this. Is this bad? I usually get dizzy when exerting too much energy. They say it's because of low sugar level, that's why I drink coke.
The American College of Sports Medicine recommends drinking cold water during or between exercise, because of its faster absorption. However, studies by the Depts of Gastroenteroloy at both the University of Shandong, China, and at St. Vincents' Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, show that drinking cold water by people with irritable bowel syndrome can be hazardous.
Well Coke contains Caffeine which has been known to enhance performance in endurance sports. In sports that are more anaerobic in nature (i.e Badminton), caffeine helps release calcium in muscles (increasing power output). Also, sodium bicarbonate found in coke helps buffer lactic acid.... meaning it helps you perform at a high intensity for a slightly longer period of time before lactic acid sets in. However, I doubt the amount found in Coke will have any positive effect.
I think it's just best to drink water. And if you do want that extra boost, you should drink acquarius or Xtran or AA drink, those are made for sport. I read on peter gade's website that he drinks 3 liters of water a day when he is playing a tournament in asia because he would get dehydrated with all the sweating
You forgot about the fact that coke is carbonated....and it definately doesnt' feel great to be playing on court with gas in your stomach, waiting to come out.
haha, could be part of your strategy: whenever your opponent is preparing a smash, just burp or fart really really loud im sure he/ she would lose concentration for a few seconds
im afraid that if one drinks too much coke during a badminton match, when that person jumping smash, suddenly the GAS COMING out, what will happen? aehhh!
I usually avoid drinking dark soda (Pepsi, Coke) whenever I play any sports. That being said, I usually avoid drinking soda whenever I play any sports. A good way to replenish is drinking gatorade or powerade (electrolytes) and washing it down by drinking water.
Gavin, one of our regulars, played the first half of a recent doubles match with a burger in his hand. Luckily we weren't on the show court (and no, he didn't win). Also, am I the only one to jump to the less salubrious interpretation of "coke"?
Was he that hungry? I've eaten right before (right before) I played because I hadn't eaten all day, but a burger in hand. That's something I would want to see.
He's one of those people who eats like a black hole but doesn't put weight on - it's probably constant down to the fifth decimal place now. He's built like LCW, only a bit shorter. On the subject of carbonated drinks, I always eschew them now, at least until afterwards: for some reason I feel that still drinks hydrate me better (and also, of course, there's the gas issue...).
OBVIOUSLY, the gas will propel the person further up, thus giving the advantage of a steeper slope xD
