As I was writing this I was thinking the same....however I think it is not as pronounced as TH. TH had huge peaks & troughs. In essence though yes.

Yes he is a machine, even at his unmotivated level he reaches the final. Yes LCW is on good form though - but I think LCW plays in good form all the time.

I don't buy the Stamina/Energy level thing. LCW played up to the final too last week & this - are we saying LCW is fitter than LD? Pro players should be able to play a tournament every week as the training they do in controlled conditions will be harder physically. The tiredness is mental.

As I said before LD has never won Swiss the week after AE. AE is a major victory. When (Or if) LCW wins it, I doubt he will win Swiss either.

Yes! That's what I'm most worried about (on behalf of LCW ;)). I really wonder if he could perform like this under the pressure of one of the big tournaments. Currently I lean towards... no :(. No doubt Lin Dan is the big tournament player of recent years. It will take something really special from LCW to beat him there.

But LD forgot that his opponent wasn't carrying the same flag as him :D

I agreed Lin Dan is a big tournament player, see whether the coming sudiramen cup Lee chong wei can repeat this performance.

Lee chong wei , well done on winning today's Swiss open !

Ok, I think the unmotivated thing carries some weight. By his body language, he seems like he consciously wants to win the match. But sometimes even when we want things, and no matter how much we try to convince ourselves of this. We just can't get fired up enough about it. That's what I think could have been the case. I hope that makes sense... It's not like Lin Dan was just walking around the court or anything, he was trying.

He's not the sort of person to give up, or to just hand away a game (unless it comes as an order from higher up >_>). So I find it very hard to believe he would be the "nice guy".

    Hmm..

Sudirman Cup is a team event, so whether team wins or loses, it doesn't depend on 1 player. LCW owned LD during last yr's TC tourney, but what happpened in the Olympics??
Also, the Sudirman Cup will be held in Guangzhou (CHN), this yr.;)
World Championships is a better barometer tourney for a player/pair.

    errrmmm, doesn't whitewash technically mean 21-0 21-0?
    :)

I think so. although you could interpret it as a whitewash of games 2-0.

Lets not spoil the occasion though......it doesn't happen often!!

I think this time, it's Oldhand who's doing the honours.

Agree, though the term i use is 'super-soldierly' :D

A win for LCW though no where a whitewash. Lin Dan still holds both that psychological advantage (OG '08) and also the head to head results to date.

Let us cherish this victory for the time being.

At least LCW "man-up" this time to avoid another lost to LD. Although is not a major win, but at least for LCW, psychologically its good to know LD is not unbeatable.

    Congrats LCW.... Good match tonight...
How powerful player Lin Dan is, of course there is a limit for everyone, he's just human.. LD just can't seem to get it right in the end...
