BG-66 can be stretched to 34lbs.?! If so, how could it last even 5 minutes for Taufik? Even I'd break that in less than 60 minutes.
I did once string my AT800DE to 29/32lbs with BG32. I play 4 times a week and the strings lasted 2 months. Stringing BG85 and BG80 at 32 lbs is a little more tricky if you use a starting knot for the crosses. For some unknown reason, vectran strings break more easily at the starting knot when you pull and tension at 30lbs or above. But once you get through the starting knot there is no problem pulling/tensioning them at 30-32lbs.
Ideal tension Hi Taneepak, Wow, u used 29/32lbs? As for me, 28 lbs seems too stiff already. I think u have to use bull strength to whack the birdie right out man. For beginner or lower intermediate players, it will be using a wooden plank to whack the shuttles man. I still prefer the range of 25 to 27 lbs only. Let it drops about 1 lb after a week of play. Lee
No, I am not a strong fellow at all. I don't use strength. At my age and with my chronic knee problem what ever strength I had is now all gone. I don't use BG66 anymore. I use my own privately acquired titanium68 string now-better than BG66 but a bit less soft. I now use 27.3/30lbs with the OWN ti68 which is my ideal tension. I tried the OWN ti68 at 29/32lbs once but it was less optimal than 27.3/30lbs.
27.3lbs.? How can you tell it's 27.3lbs.? Do you have a digital stringing machine that calibrates to 0.1 of a lb.? Also, why the 3lbs difference? Do you feel 2lbs. is not enough to offset the main string tension?
Its been a long time! Hi guys! Now that I look back I can't believe I was using 18 lbs, lol . These days I use Armortec 900 P 4U G5 with Nanogy 98 @ 27 lbs. I like the Nanogy 98, it seems to last longer than BG 66.Clearing is not a problem at all from back line to the other end, these days my concern is not to put the bird outside when clearing , I can't believe with some video training (www.ibbs.tv)/private lessons/group training how much I impoved. -ezish
wow, thread from the dead! This string can be stretched to around 52lbs during my test, but it's different once it's on the racquet. I usually string the bg66 to 32x35.2lbs and it's not bad, durabilty is still somewhat of an issue, but it definatly lasts longer than a day. It sucks that MBS upped the price such that bg66 is the same price as all the other strings making it not a very good choice XD
When I was in Bali, my stringer put me on 22, but ater moved to Jakarta (where most professional players live), I got a clue that 29 is considered "normal" for club players here. So, I went to 29, and it's surprised me that I could play on that tension, and I generate more power than when I was in Bali. No I understand why Taufik or Gade go with 34-33. Do not believe in Yonex's manual, go testing! My racquet is MP99 and BG66.
