Can I please ask as I tried to make sense out of it... Why can Boe/Conrad-Petersen be MD1 in the semi finals when Astrup/Rasmussen are MD2? I thought line ups need to be in order of ranking: http://bwfbadminton.com/rankings/2/bwf-world-rankings/8/men-s-doubles/2018/21/?rows=25&page_no=1
There is another system called notional ranking. Boe and Mads calculated notional ranking most likely put them higher ranked than astrup / Rasmussen.
When forming the scratch pair, their notional ranking points will be 40% of boe's plus 40% of conrad's. I guess their notional points are higher than the danish pair
Thanks guys, I've found the information on BWF: http://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/notionalranking.aspx?rid=70 When punching in Boe and Conrad the points are calculated as 58989, this is higher than Astrup/Rasmussen ranking points, I suppose that's why. Thanks for answering my inquiries!
