About an hour after the final of the mens doubles, one of my friends had lost his wallet and had to find it with the staff, on his way out, he saw sigit being put in an ambulance, he knows his nadminton and was sure it was sigit, but i have not read anywhere else reported on this, he only told me today,as i had to leave the final early to play, anybody have any other information on this? has he made a mistake? anybody know if sigit has returned to indonesia yet?
there is a Chinese press report saying that Sigit's arm was in a lot of pain before the competition that it hurts just raising it. amazing that he managed to go through the whole tournament with that pain. however, the article didn't mention anything about him going to the hospital.
wow... he could smash with an arm that painful just to lift? this is another "mental toughness" example for all of us...
candra-sigit just read in one of the indonesian local news paper that finally this great pair will be separated. the decision apparently was made by christian hadinata, the maestro behind all recent freat indonesian mens doubles pairs. the decision was announced to both players immediately after the final game in birmingham. as yet it is not clear who will be paired with each candra and sigit. sigit was quoted as unhappy with the decision as he still looks forward to athen olympics. looks like all good things will come to an end someday.

With this latest news, It seems that PBSI and Christian have already known that there is a problem with Sigit before they made an announcement in the local newspaper : here! which I have posted Here I am wonder that the separation is taken due to : - to keep Indonesia MD's chance to go to Athene 2004. - to give Halim a chance to show his "power". - to give Sigit more time to recover
If Sigit was really having an elbow injury that he couldn't even raise his elbow, it's really sad that people blaming him for not playing well and lose the WC MD final. I always looked at Sigit as a playboy. Now I view him as a real hero and great fighter.
Sigit's injury As I mentioned in another thread, Sigit had to walk out of the arena on crutches after the WC final ended, and the next day on the way to the airport, he was on crutches too. Injury was apparently caused by his fall in the third set of the final. His elbow injury is a possible explanation as to why his smashes were so weak in the semifinal and final games.
