Not many reactions to this news, though this is a major achievement for badminton world, and this puts Andrew Ryan ... above Punch Gunalan!!

How is he higher in position? From what I understand he has no direct influence on the IBF and it's still up to member commitees to vote what sports are in or out of the olympics isn't it. What it does do is put him in a good lobbying position  (which he could use/abuse to influence the ibf okay ;))

    Good question...
It seems that as director of the multi-sport instance, he is "hierarchally" above Puncho.
But I shouldn't think this gives him any actual power of decision over IBF, only a potentially strong influence...

I must admit I don't really know what power he will actually have...:confused:

Well, this is still a major achievement for badminton, as it is a high recognition of the abilities and experience he has acquired at the IBF.

Politically, I don't know what the impact will be, but it will probably lessen somehow Punch Gunalan's freedom of fooling around...

    andrew ryan appointment

how can andrew be above punch gunalan seven ? andrew is only representing the country's committee and punch is representing the sports industry and andrew's position is a bureacratic position where as punch position is a entrepreneurial position elected by members of association . ryan has been a strong administrator and seven, pls do not put andrew in this situation and he has been reporting to punch. if andrew has grown to this level it is bcoz of punch training to become a leader inside IBF and outside also. so seven do not misinterpret things.

No he is certainly not! (more the opposite)

I didn't get your point... (I must admit I have difficulty understanding what you are saying)
Is it not clear that IOC is above IBF for instance?
What relation are you giving to PG and AR?
