General Manager 10 May 2006 The International Badminton Federation (IBF) Is looking for a dedicated individual to join its head office in Malaysia as General Manager. JOB DESCRIPTION General Manager – International Badminton Federation The General Manager of IBF will be responsible for the general management and coordination of IBF activities according to the policies and objectives of the IBF Council. The GM’s primary duty is the operational implementation of the decisions of the IBF, AGM, Council and/or Executive Board. The GM will also be the reference point for all Continental Confederations and Member Associations in terms of best practice, experience and coordination on key issues. The GM’s other duties include: • Management of the IBF office staff and consultants. • Management of effective relations with the President, Deputy President, the Council and Executive Board and the Confederations. • Regular liaison with all Committees, Continents and IBF Training Centers on all matters of common interest. • Edit publications, website, attend meetings and represent IBF as and when directed by the Council and Executive Board • Organise seminars and various meetings of committees including and not limited to Council, Executive Board and Annual General Meetings etc. • Establish a good relationship between IBF and the local government departments. • May have to work beyond the regular office hours Qualifications • University degree or relevant experience in related fields • Significant knowledge in matters relating to badminton in all aspects e.g. the game itself, coordination with Committees and member countries etc. • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with proven abilities to deal with culturally diversified groups and individuals, establishing and communicating collective objectives and values, exerting personal influence with diplomacy while building relationships and gaining trust. • Good command of written and spoken English is important and the ability to speak, read or write another language will be a bonus. • Sensitivity to International cultures and negotiation methods. • Sports related business experience in print and electronic media, marketing, promotion and television will be helpful. • Experience in General Management in a senior position of an organisation which must include regular reporting of activities, management of divisions and staff, budgetary controls and relating with other connected agencies Interested applicants are invited to send a detailed Curriculum Vitae to: Deputy President International Badminton Federation Stadium Badminton Kuala Lumpur Batu 3 ½, Jalan Cheras 56000 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
