It was my honour to meet up with Uncle Loh, hcyong, Aileen, Hauge, FastDrop, Abedeng, etc at the ABC in JB. We had great time watching the SF (except the LD vs CJ match) and the MD matches were intense and thrilling. The Korean pair defeated kkk/tbh and deservedly to set up the final clash with Chandra/Nova. It was the match of the nite. IMHO, Nova/Chandra is better than Chandra/Tony coz Nova is lightning fast at net and solid defence. After the game, we went to NY Hotel to meet up with Hauge. Suprisingly we saw quite a number of players (CJ, LHI, Park, and INA players). Oh yeah, we saw LYB (with TianBinYi) at the road side trying to catch a cab Thanks to Hauge that we managed to have dinner at the Thai Restaurant with some of the INA players. Though we were sitting on different tables, it was a close and personal experience with INA players n officials. (oh yeah, Hendrawan was there too) I'll upload some pics and Uncle Loh will contribute more pics
Chandra and Nova getting ready to take on the Korean pair (sorry, this photo is not clear coz I'm using a lousy digicam :crying
Just to add on. I was on my way to toilet and unexpected ran into a RTM1 interview with my fav double specialist, Chandra Wijaya!!! There were only few people at the corner and I didnt have my camera or handphone with me!!! :crying::crying::crying: I was so sad but at least I got to shake his hands OK, that's all from my contributions. I'll be going to JB again tmr morning and hopefully to grab more nice photos with players, esp Chandra. Just love his playing styles
Posted by Loh: Some more pics of our gatherings. tjl_vanguard (Loong from Kuching), Jessica and the rest of us met at the stadium entrance. Jessica waited for us patiently at 1.15 pm to hand us the tickets. We were held up with the jam at the Malaysian customs as Singapore passport holders took a much longer time to clear. However foreigners do not require to fill in the white form as from Jan 2008. For dinner we gathered at the Thai Restaurant near New York Hotel where many of the players stayed. We took the opportunity to take some pics with some Indonesian, Malaysian and Korean players. LYB was seen hailing a cab for a night out with some of his coaches. They could be celebrating that China managed to get Chen Jin into the Olympics as the third MS, having beaten Lin Dan decisively for a place in tomorrow's finals. At the adjacent court, poor Park and Sony had to exert their full energies in a 3-gamer before Park managed to steal into the final. Vanguard, Rudy and Fastdrop stayed at the same hotel too whilst Loh joined abedeng to stay overnight at the Pulai Springs Resort. The others made their way back to Singapore to return again for the Final tomorrow.
I'm so jealous of u guys! Wow, our Jimbo is taller than most of the players. Finally, we managed to see our straight A student, Jessica's "real face". tjl_vanguard and Aileen, nice to meet u guys! Btw, who's the one sitting right in the centre in the last photo?
Thank you so much jimbo and Abedeng for the gathering and photos. jimbo looks as fit as the players. Did you guys manage to see other BCers inside stadium, like pjswift and Sealman? Looking forward to more photos to come
One particular unhappy incident: After the MAS vs KOR match, there were some crowd disturbance, targeted at the Malaysians. Koo and Tan had to be escorted out of the stadium. This is getting out of hand, it would not have happened 20 years ago. Yesterday the better team won, and to their credit Koo and Tan didn't stop fighting. It took, ahem, Jimbo and Loh to pacify them at the hotel, hence the pics shown here.
Escorted out of the stadium? Seriously? Thats crazy, I tot they played well yesterday. What happened actually?
Hello from the Philippines! Nice pictures! Hi Kabayan Fastdrop! Hope to see you all again in Bangkok during the Thai Open this June 2008!
