Shi Yuqi played well, and his results against the rest en route to the final is testament to it, but Chen Long played even better today.
Wow, AY, you beat TTY and win the title. After early exit at Denmark Open, she fought back in this tournament. She proves to everyone that TTY is beatable. From this tournament, we learn that KM, TTY, and minions are NOT invincible. They can be challenged by other players. Now, I just wait for the day when Zheng/Huang's domination is stopped.
Just to let you know that both minions and TTY together lost for the first time in final. Usually, they won together when they both in the final. What a strane coincidence. They started to dominate their own category at the same time. They even win their first major tournament (AG) together.
Did TTY ever lost in Final before yesterday this year?I wonder when will we see MD pair winning 10 straight finals again...
TTY lose to RI in the final of Malaysia Masters 2018. It is so difficult to win 10 straight finals. Minions have done it last week and they lost yesterday.
10 straight finals took a year to do and that if you have the chance and good enough. Probably will be a decade long record in MD.
just like LCW during 2011, entered to Super Series tournaments final rounds, i remember LCW greatest lost in SS is in Japan Open when he defeated by Chen Long...
Wow, what's this? I woke up in the morning and I saw another two upsets in the final from the result?
China 3, Japan 2, two world number one toppled, that's French Open final outcome. Local organizer put singles category at last two match despite MS is all China affairs. The unstoppable YaSi combination contiune winning streak in Paris despite being troubled by Korean dangerous lafthanders duo Seo SJ/Chae YJ, The Chinese took crucial opening game, 21-19 then Koreans showed aggressiveness with some disguising shot, unpredictable placement at early stages of second game. But soon Zheng/Huang regrouped their focus and back to their own rhythm while Seo/Chae committed several errors to deliver the favourites bagged sixth BWF World Tour title in this season, 21-14. A huge upset surged in men's doubles final contest when strongest contender Gideon/Sukamuljo lost to China back-up pair Han CK/Zhou HD in rubber games. It's the Chinese won psychological advantage to close opening game, 23-21 then the Minions controlled second game 21-8. Real deal in deciding game saw Gideon started to fatigue, wasted easy points while the Chinese penetrated them with hard smashes and fast furious attacking shots, 21-17 for the Chinese young pair, a first ever Super 750 crown. As predicted, Stoeva sisters gallant run came to an end, halted by reigning World Champion Matsumoto/Nagahara. Comfortable first game victory, 21-14 the Bulgarians couldn't match and endure their good attacking and variety of shots. More tense in second game, MatsuNaga had hefty lead, 13-5 at the moment then service faults disrupted the fifth seed pair concentration while their opponent bounced back slowly to close the gap with their steady long rallies but not enough to deny the Japanese topped French Open podium and redeem their shocking defeat in Odense. The longest duration in final day was presented by women's singles clash. 22-20 / 17-21 / 21-13 for second seed triumphant. Akane Yamaguchi reversed last year result to be champion this time. Yamaguchi resilience and strong fitness level plus amazing retrieving skill including the last shot were the answer to push Tai Tzu Ying worked extra effort, uncomfortable and under pressure, couldn't develop her gameplan well. Enjoying the calmness of both finalists, no celebration as usual by baby-faced Akane as she looks like to win title in school competition Last final match witnessed the Olympic Champion is back on winning track to edge out younger brother Shi Yuqi, 21-17 / 21-19 in a riveting battle. Seeing a different feat last night by Chen with his displays in All England and World Championships where he succumbed to Shi but no repetition this time. A deserved winner to clinch MS crown as Chen Long beat current king, world number one and reigning world champion Kento Momota in semifinal convincingly indicating he's very ready and hungry for glory after numerous failure started early of this year, noticed how he celebrated the victory to release all burdens. The last time that Chen won title in top-tier torunament was China Open, November 2017, almost a year. There're two tournaments this week to follow, Macau Super 300 & Saarlorlux Super 100 with pretty much interesting line-up
Don't think so. He don't have a good partner as him. Don't need him la hahahah. I'm more like CY back to court again or Rexy? XD
They will still say AY is beatable at the moment . She was "lucky" to win the title this time and had more stamina than the opponents. Right, guys? @Cunning Linguist
Despite im a fan of Japan team, i have to admit that Akane was beatable until the match yesterday, especially compare to what she demonstrated last year. However, hope that the sensational victory agains Tai will boot her confidence and get good results for remaining time this year
