hey was wondering, has anyone out there tried CP-1000? if so is it a good racket in terms of offence, defence or control? and how will it compare with woven 7 or 8.
Yup. I have to say that Maxsports is an extremely good shop. I bought two times there. Really satisfied. Michael, the guy whose running the shop, is really cool and competent. Patient also, he is always answering my questions and knows what he is talking about. They have great prices, cool promotions sometimes. The service and shipping is really good (to my province at least) fast and relatively cheap. and they offer SOTX stuff. With that being said, lets talk about the racket. I really liked it at first. Powerful, pretty stable, nice feeling, sobre design. I liked it more than my usual AT-700s. I played one tournament with it within a week of experience with it and it went kinda well. The thing is that I had also ordered another at the same time, an Apacs Armor Muscle Pro 95 (these were the two I wanted to try). I received it soon after my Woven 7. After two two hours sessions, I really fell in love with it. At least as powerful than the w7, more stable imho, better feeling, sexier, cheaper, very solid feeling, well-built. So I didnt really play with my w7 I got my Apacs. I actually have another tournament this weekend and I will use my AMP95 with my w7 as backup. Thats about it. Tell me if you have any questions. Peace!
I agree about Maxsports. Good shop. Glad to hear that you like both racquets. Good luck in your tournament.
OK, now I am confused. It is about WOVEN 4A that is rated 8.0~8.5, and WOVEN 2 rated 8.5~9.0. But according to DinkAlot's Racket review it is the opposite: W2 Stiff+ and W4/4A Very Stiff -. What should I believe?
the range of number means the number of degrees the shaft bends when adding a certain amount of weight onto the shaft.
The lower the number the stiffer the SOTX racquet(ie 8.0 stiffer than9.0). The w4 is supposed to be a quite stiff head heavy racket(sorry I've not tried it) The w2 is a light-ish, more balanced (but still a bit head heavy) stiff racquet. I have one and I like it a lot. I think it is a great racket for the money. Another good value for money SOTX racket is the Winner Kinsmen 8080+. I find it a little stiffer and a liitle head lighter than the woven 2. Both are manuevrable and adequately powerful. The w4, 7, 11 are the "big hitters", if that is more your style. Good luck, and remember new and expensive isn't always the best.
At balance point 290+ the Ti-8 looks head heavy instead of balanced. But that might be just right for you. The 8080+ is oval and relatively even balanced; but it is not long. I'm afraid I don't know more than that. But perhaps Phandrew could help you out. He seems to be very knowlegable about SOTX.
Oops, forgot to note that you wanted quite stiff, so that rules out 8080+ on two counts. THe woven4 comes in a long, but not from Puppysports. But that might be too head heavy for your wishes. The w5 is stiff, even balanced, but is light and isometric. You've presented an interesting challenge: Finding your exact specs (long, oval, very stiff, even balanced) in a SOTX reasonably priced racket. I think the Ti-8a you found looks nice. Have you found a review of it in the BC search function? If you get it, please post your thoughts. good luck
No review at all But the price is tempting. And since the racket is 680mm, I think that the balance point is not much to the head (slightly head heavy is no problem). After get it and play, I will post a review (or something).
8.0-8.5 is like stiff to extra stiff. That is the company's rating but it might be different in reality.
I do not think so the Ti-8A still have coz when I asked SOTX, they replaced with model Ti-8e (as mentioned in the 2008 catalogue), maybe Puppysports still has it ..... I have the Ti-8e and it is stiff racket ...... (at least to me)
I believe the TI series are Iso... not oval... The STB-5083A seems to fit what you're looking for but it will sorta be luck of the draw since the stiffness ranges from 8.0-9.0 and BP is 280-295 (talk about QC!) Otherwise, it's Oval and 675mm (unless you're looking for a 680). Lastly, I'd also vouch for MaxSport. Personally bought three rackets from him and a pleasure to deal with.
does anyone know how often do ibuysport replies for emails? I've sent an email asking for a combo deal got no reply after 2 days since i sent now...
the combo deal on the website just has 3 woven8 combo, and i cant find a way to change it to the rackets i want. I sent an email to cbsycomp@yahoo.com yesterday also and still got no reply today:crying:
