I think our Malaysian friends can learn a lesson from SDK's victory.

Notice that despite winning the silver in the olympics, LCW's confidence is at an all time low. On the other hand, despite not winning any medal in Beijing, Sonny bounces back and wins back-to-back super series titles. Why is this so? Let us see .... Who between the two has got fans who support him - win or lose? On the other hand, who's unappreciated?

    Go figure ....

This is what we're looking for from Sony..

ah well, was getting ready to follow the Finals until eyes and body wouldn't allow so...:(
..how about the M'sian Open SS title for your fave MD pair??..;)
..uh-oh, coach Hendrawan's job is in jeopardy.;) Looks like Reony Mainaky?? has been doing a fine job as Sony's temporary coach..
But what a performance by SDK, as he really took advantage in these last 2 SS with the lack of top MS players playing (he sure made me eat a few crows for doubting, earlier in the week, that SDK won't win this China Masters title).:p. I can imagine his confidence must be pretty high right now.
Seems like he has shrugged off that "Mr. Quarter Finalist" mantle off of him, too, eh??..;)
Anyway, congrats to all winners and participants (back-to-back SS wins for INA's Sony and CHN's Cheng & Zhao).

*..does anyone know how many back-to-back MS SS winners have there been??..is this the first time a MS player has won three straight SS titles??..
**CHN's WD pair of Cheng & Zhao's performance in the Final!! wow, a mere 29 minutes!!

They have won it this year, beating Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen, remember?

    ^^Oh..^^

..that one, okay (you know better). Sorry, memory lapsed. Too much sleep time for me....
*Besides those missing Asian SS titles, they still have their work cut-out for them as European SS titles (i believe all of them, along with the European GPs and GP Golds:p) are still missing in their trophy case..;)

2008 China Masters Super Series Champions

    .
Thank you to all who have posted in this thread, updating the results as they happened. :):):)

It's great for people like me who could not be at the computer following the matches as they happened. Our carine 's posts of running scores between ZM and WL were great.

Congratulations to all winners of the 5 events. :):):)

    I am glad that 3 out of the 5 event winners were whom I predicted could be the champions, right from the start of the tournament, namely;
    MS: SDK
    WS: ZM
    MD: MK/HS

Thank you to our BCers again.

    :):):)

SDK is great be first player this year who have hattrict witrh winning 3 SS consecutively
He won Indonesia SS, Japan SS, and China Master SS.
Actually also there is Tine R who won 3 SS this year, but not consecutively.

I also noted that INA XD pair Nova/Butet be Mr/Mrs Runner Up recently
they be runner up at OG, JO, and CMO......
I think something wrong with this pair, may be they mental and stamina should be improve......

XZB/ZYW played better than NW/LN at the 2008 China Masters Badminton Super Series

    .
Yong_Hui ... Yes, I predicted that INA XD pair Nova/Butet would be the champions at this tournament too.:eek::eek: But we should give credit to XZB/ZYW for playing well against them.

Let's hope that Nova/Butet could do better in their next tournament.

    He is a very patriotic umpire/service judges...:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I wonder why there was no netral service judges being used...all are from China.

    A bit off topic-So far...

..yes, those 2 players, SO FAR, are the only players/pairs who have won 3 titles this yr; and either or both could win more. But the yr is not over, yet (still 4 more Super Series left).
And yes, since the yr is not over yet, we do have some other players/pairs who have won 2 SS titles, this yr, already.
And, pulling out the infos from my socks, they are:

MS - Lee Chong Wei (M'sia Open SS, S'pore Open SS)
WS - Zhou Mi (Korea Open SS, CHN Masters SS)
WD - Yang Wei & Zhang Jiewen (M'sia Open SS, Swiss Open SS); Du Jing & Yu Yang (Korea Open SS, S'pore Open SS)
MD - Markis Kido & Hendra Setiawan (INA Open SS, CHN Master SS); Mohd Z. Abdul Latif & Mohd. F. Mohd Tazari (Singapore Open SS, INA Open SS)
XD - He Hanbin & Yu Yang (M'sia Open SS, Swiss Open SS)

I am excluding these pairs, below, because they'll probably not play any longer this yr (different reasons):
Jung Jae Sung & Lee Yong Dae (winners of Korea Open SS, Swiss Open SS)
Zheng Bo & Gao Ling (winners of Korea Open SS, INA Open SS)

i strive to post unbiased facts.
The reporter was a malaysian too, so no biased reporting either.
I said only what the MAL reporter had said, nothing more, nothing less.

Damn, watched Sony DK vs. Chen Jin. IMHO, Sony was testing the umpire and stretching the limits a bit too much. Shuttlecock change, racquet change, towel downs. Didn't see much sportmanship :(
Game itself was interesting, but the sidestory doesn't make this a classic.
Dang, I need a new hero. Don't like chinese squad, grand old men are getting old (Taufik, Gade, Jonassen), Sony plays mind games, LCW has failed in finals :D Lee Hyun Il had interesting style, but he quit also :D
    Anyway, my 0.02$ :p
