I would not think it is impossible given that anything can happen to LD or LCW can pick up the pace - there is still a few months to the OG.

I would say LD has already overcome it after WC07. Now you have to indeed play better to beat him.

True, but the true test of this is to come in OG.

It is also an ongoing test. One which will always end in failure - he will lose at somepoint.

I think the key is if the players feel they are not dispensable then the accountability most likely won't be there. Just look at Hafiz, he got more life than the cat. Lots of time, situation is caused by the environment and since no other talent is there waiting at the wing and salary still goes regardless ... you get the picture.
Look at the bright side, Malaysia badminton is still better compare to previous Olympic.

What a long rally, won by YW/ZJW, with ZYW lying on the floor. YW/ZJW 16-8.

ye333 mentioned one problem abt INA's XD: usually, the mens are not that powerful, as compared to China's Zheng Bo and now He Hanbin. Agree, because these are the players who usually didn't do well in MD and got another chance at XD.

INA needs to groom one (or more) solid XD pair once Nova Widianto and Flandy Limpele retire after the Olympics.

Right now, we only have Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii (again, Rijal is the weak link) and the rising pair Tantowi Ahmad/Yulianti (Towi is again the weak link...haizz....).

Maybe as I always have in mind...pair up Lingga Lie with Lilyana Natsir (who definitely needs a pair post Beijing Olympics considering she's only 22 this year!)

As for Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita...forget abt it...they will reach top 8 at best and be a credible supporting pair...not the main pair.

Please, even Lin Dan fail in Olympic, he still will be one of the greatest player in my book, he has won numerous titles of AE and WC plus most of the SS, is good enough to qualify. Please don't pick stone from the egg, not fair to Lin Dan.

:D Oh no, Msia players must suck up to it cos "they're funded by the government"(actually 50% government, 50% sponsors) and "pressure is everywhere in the world." 'If cannot cope with the pressure, dont be be a pro baddy player.', they'll say.

Anyway, this kind of pressure has been around for years, the players know it from young. We'll see how well they cope with it this time around. It's LCW's 2nd OG, the MD uncles 3rd.

Looking objectively these days there is a lack of really big smashers.

Gone are the days of LDS, HTK, Halim who had enormous smashes. The current MD players emphasis is speed and clever defending.
