    Matches involving Malaysian Players

11:00AM WS Salakjit PONSANA vs Mew Choo WONG [8] - A tricky opener for newly crowned China Open Champion as the Thai has beaten her during the Sudirman Cup this year. But the Malaysian should prevail.

12:20PM MS Kay Bin YEOH vs Yi LU - A tough match but Kay Bin should win over the winner of Austrian and Bitburger Open.

1:00PM MD Simon MOLLYHUS/Anders KRISTIANSEN vs Bin Shen TAN/Soon Hock ONG - The Malaysians beat the Danes in straight sets in the China Masters this year. Can they repeat the feat?

1:00PM MS Hafiz HASHIM vs Simon SANTOSO - A rematch of Indonesia Open 1st round this year where Simon beat Hafiz in 2 comfortable sets. Can Hafiz avenge his loss this time?

1:40PM MS Hyun Ii LEE vs Roslin HASHIM - A rematch of China Open 1st round. Can Roslin make it right this time?

3:00PM MD Lutfi Zaim ABDUL KHALID/Wee Kiong TAN vs Jae Jin LEE/Ji Man HWANG [8] - The 8th seeds should win over the young Malaysians.

3:40PM MD Chieh Min FANG/Sheng Mu LEE vs Choon Eng CHEW/Chieng Hun HONG - The Taiwanese pair has improved a lot recently.

4:20PM MS Weilun ZHU vs Tsuen Seng LEE - Playing Chinese players never be easy for Tsuen Seng but the more experienced Malaysian should win.

5:00PM WD Pek Siah LIM/Chiou Hwee HAW vs Wei YANG/Jiewen ZHANG [2] - The Olympic and World Champs are strong for the Malaysians.

7:00PM MD Quang Minh NGUYEN/Thanh-Hai TRAN vs Khim Wah LIM/Hee Chun MAK - A 50:50 game.

7:40PM MS Beng Hong KUAN vs Chong Wei LEE [2] - Too bad for Beng Hong to face Chong Wei in the opener.

9:00PM MD Lars PAASKE/Jonas RASMUSSEN vs Tan Fook CHOONG/Wan Wah LEE [5] - A tough opener for the Malaysians.

9:40PM MS Choong Hann WONG vs Peter GADE [5] - Another tough opener for Choong Hann after French and China Open. A rematch of Japan Open 1st round. Can Choong Hann make it this time?

WS Salakjit PONSANA vs Mew Choo WONG [8] - Malaysian number one should win this match and sure meet again in Sea Games, Korat next month.

12:20PM MS Kay Bin YEOH vs Yi LU - I think Kay Bin will win in 3 sets.

1:00PM MD Simon MOLLYHUS/Anders KRISTIANSEN vs Bin Shen TAN/Soon Hock ONG - The Malaysians will win in 3 sets also.

1:00PM MS Hafiz HASHIM vs Simon SANTOSO - I look Hafiz can win this time according China Open performance, but a tough match.

1:40PM MS Hyun Ii LEE vs Roslin HASHIM - Yes this is rematch of China Open. Roslin sure will fight and try to win this time especially first set.

3:00PM MD Lutfi Zaim ABDUL KHALID/Wee Kiong TAN vs Jae Jin LEE/Ji Man HWANG [8] - The Korean pair easy to beat Malaysian junior.

3:40PM MD Chieh Min FANG/Sheng Mu LEE vs Choon Eng CHEW/Chieng Hun HONG - The tough match but the Malaysian should win this time.

4:20PM MS Weilun ZHU vs Tsuen Seng LEE - The Malaysian easy to win. I think 2 set.

5:00PM WD Pek Siah LIM/Chiou Hwee HAW vs Wei YANG/Jiewen ZHANG [2] - The Chinese pair to strong.

7:40PM MS Beng Hong KUAN vs Chong Wei LEE [2] - Easy for Malaysian number one coz Beng Hong performance still no so good especially his footwork and movement.

9:00PM MD Lars PAASKE/Jonas RASMUSSENvs Tan Fook CHOONG/Wan Wah LEE [5] - Malaysian pair should win this match.

9:40PM MS Choong Hann WONG vs Peter GADE [5] - 50-50

9:40PM XD Craig COOPER/Renee FLAVELL vs Lutfi Zaim ABDUL KHALID/Liu Ying GOH - The Malaysian junior will chance win this match.

10:20PM MD Zakry ABDUL LATIF/Fairuzizuan MOHD TAZARI vs Haifeng FU/Yun CAI [2] - A rematch of China Open 1st round. May be this match very tough. I think Chinese pair win 3 sets. [/quote]

OK, matches have started with a couple of WS and MS. I guess I just figured out a possible reason why they had to stagger the 1st round matches. Must be a small stadium floor as they can only hold 3 courts. You can only squeeze in so many games a day based on this configuration.

    JAP girls are dong well:
    Kaori 11-5 Chan (HK)
    Eriko 11-3 Eva Lee (US)

    Also Nguen TM 7-10 KJ

i saw Eva Lee from the US warming up with her mom yesterday in the practice court. she is playing Eriko today. she is probably the best player US have but even so Eriko will be a tough opponent.

That is cool, a tournament player warming up with her Mom :). Don't expect Eva to make it past Eriko. Already lost 7-21 an down 2-3 in the 2nd. Take lotsa nice pics today!

i think partly because she is the only one from the US playing here. apparently the other ones decided not to participate in the HKO and instead go for other tournament elsewhere.

Oop, poor Eva just lost. Hope she'll enjoy the remainder of her time in HK. Kaori about to polish off Chan. Nguyen and KJ deadlocked at 16-16

    Matches involving Team INA

11:00AM MS Sony Dwi Kuncoro [7] vs Boonsak Ponsana -- a tricky match, but, Sony should handle Boonsak.

12:20PM XD Hsieh Yu-Hsin/Chien Yu-Chin vs Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir [2] -- a good practice match for the World Champion to stretch their muscles.

12:20PM MD Tsai Chia-Hsin/Hu Chung-Hsien vs Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto -- the Chinese-Taipei pair has beaten Koo/Tan last week, and I hope Luluk/Alvent do not underestimate this pair and progress to a rematch with Eriksen/Hansen.

01:00PM MS Mohd Hafiz Hashim vs Simon Santoso -- a tough match for both players, but, Simon has improved this year and he should beat Hafiz.

01:00PM MD Alroy Tanama Putra/Hui Wai Ho vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [3] -- like Nova/Butet, a practice match for Kido/Hendra to get used to the court.

02:20PM WD Fiona Mckee/Charmaine Reid vs Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nursugianti -- Rani/Endang have been stopped in early rounds many times this year. However, they should beat the Canadian pair today.

04:20PM MD Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo -- the match of the day for INA players and AG/Joko have a tough match against the improving Guo/Xie. The Chinese pair has an edge.

They should retire if they can beat the Canadians by a wide margin ;). I estimate the Canadians won't get more than 24 points in 2 games.

MEN'S SINGLES - Lin Dan (beating Lee Chong Wei in an epic 3-setter)

WOMEN'S SINGLES - who care, either Zhang Ning or Xie Xingfang

MEN'S DOUBLES - Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan (a dramatic win over Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah in 3-sets, with nail-biting final few points)

WOMEN'S DOUBLES - who care too....either Gao Ling/Huang Sui or Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen

MIXED DOUBLES - Zheng Bo/Zhao Tingting (beating Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir in 2 close sets)

Despite having a game point at 20-19 in the 2nd game, Tien Minh lost to Kenneth in straight sets 15-21 21-23.

GONG Weijie beat Dicky PALYAMA 21-18 21-12. It compensates my PAW on Tien Minh a bit.
