So, the evening matches in the GS gonna be:
Hye In Choi vs Maria Febe -- tough match yet again for Febe after she won in rubber-sets and I expect her to lose

Neumann Beckie vs Pia Bernadet -- Pia should win quite easily.

Lindaweni Fanetri vs Bae Youn Joo -- similarly, the Korean will progress.

In the BS, Adi Pratama progressed to R16 after an easy 21-9, 21-12 victory over Kenny Ng. The test will come tomorrow, facing possibly Vountus Indra Mawan.

Yes indeed shocking that Aiying as no.1 seed should go down in R1 and I hope she has learnt her lesson well that when you play against the Koreans or the Japanese, never to underestimate any of them! :(

Thankfully the other three of Aiying's singles teammates, Zhang, Gu and Fu, are still in the running.

Arif Nandang just survived a rubber-set as well, beating Aditya Elango 21-10, 19-21, 21-19. He will lose to Lim Fang Yang tomorrow. The other BS match tomorrow will feature Adi Pratama vs Vountus Indra Mawan.

As expected, the fifth-seed Wifqi Windarto/Afiat Yuris Wirawan trounced their opponent 21-7, 21-9 in just 14 mins. They will face a Japanese pair Katsutoshi Noguchi/Yuta Yamasaki tomorrow. They will face a formidable challenge in the QF, with the second-seed Lim Khim Wah/Mak Hee Chun being their possible opponent.

I'm watching TanWeeKion-WoonKheWei playing against a Filipine pair. One pair is beating the other pair flat.

I actually couldnt tell which pair was the msians because they are all wearing the same coloured shirts. And I cant really see the words.

But the winning pair is most probably Tan-Woon...

Maria Febe has beaten Choi Hye In 21-14, 21-19 and Pia Zebadiah also won easily 21-4, 21-10. Both will progress to the last 16. Febe will face another Korean Eorn Hye Won, while Pia will face Porntip Buranaprasertsuk.

In the XD, two INA pairs also progressed to R32: Muhd Ulinufa/Richi Dili Puspita have beaten a Thai pair. They will face the 8th-seed Josche Zurwonne/Dana Kaufhold. Meanwhile Afiat Yuris Wirawan/Debby Susanto have beaten a HKG pair.

Even though a number of seeds have fallen, I will only count the defeat of Xing Aiying as an upset.

The other 2 XD pairs: Wifqi Windarto/Pia Zebadiah and Hendra Mulyono/Nadia Emanuella Gideon have also won their matches in straight sets. Wifqi/Pia have the mammoth task of beating the top seed Tan Wee Kiong/Woon Khe Wei, while Hendra/Nadia will face either a Scottish or German pair.

Aditya's performance deserves credit. After not featuring in any matches in the team events his performance against Arif should give the lad a lot of confidence.

Aditya (along with GuruSai and Saurabh who have featured in this event) are the next gen of players who given adequate exposure can start to make an impact on the circuit. The key element for the longevity of all of these 3 players will be physical conditioning.

Apart from GuruSai who is a product of Gopichand's academy a mjoriy of junior mens players in India are not part of formal academies. Its is interestting to note that Aditya plays for Tamil Nadu state who coach also happens to be the cheif coach of the Indian junior team in this tournament(Mr Sacheva)

Kudos to Aditya as well as GuruSai(tough draw for him) for their performances.

    Aditya's Results -

    Rd 1 bt Saul Soto [PUR] - 21-7 , 21-6
    Rd 2 bt Arthur Cheung [ENG] - 22-10 , 21-16
    Rd 3 lost to Arif Nandang [INA] - 10-21 21-19 19-21
