Where were the Russians this year? Sorry I did not follow the whole thread... Did the Russians avoid the US Open this year?

    I have..

..no clue, whatsoever, abt their absence...however:
    1. All i know is that, some or all of the Russian players (winners & runners-up) from last yr's U.S. Open had participated in this yr's World Championships in M'sia. And that includes the same Japanese players also..
    2. But from posts in this thread, apparently Yonex USA sponsored or had asked the Japanese players to come and participate...And consider the traveling and logistical issue the Russian players will have to face, esp. after the just finished World Championships..:rolleyes::p..Traveling from Japan to U.S. (L.A.) will most likely take 10-12 hrs..IMO, a bit more bearable for the JPN squad..:p;)
