I heard the Russians are really into badminton now... However, I am still surprised they now have one International Challenge tournament and one Grand Prix Gold tournament. They must be pretty confident the 2 tournaments will draw a lot of crowd...

Quite a few russians come to Finland for smaller tournaments, and at least what I've seen they use AS-50's. So no cheap Chinese shuttles there... :p

    You bet..

..and i would attest to that, as witnessed, by how they "dismantled" the rest of the competition in last yr's U.S. Open, here in L.A., winning the XD, WD and WS titles..

Hopefully those same players can come back again this yr..;)

    Russian contribution to racket sports!

We will all wait for Russian Badminton's Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova! Badminton will then get a lot of attention from everyone! Then... we can hope for higher prize money for everyone! I can't wait! :D

It is still dissapointing to see that the prize money for All England winners are almost equal to the first round loosers at Wimbledon...

Russian Badminton's Anna not hard to find...

I predict in the next decade we will see one Russian Badminton Anna K. ... ;) To my knowledge, Anna Kournikova have never won a pro-tournament in her life... :p She is famous because of her looks, not because she won Grand Slam tournaments. So it is not hard to get Anna's version from Russian Badminton. ;)

I admit it is far harder getting the Maria Sharapova version who is beautiful and wins a lot of big tournaments... :p

Imagine Tatiana Chechnikov, a cross between Kournikova and Sharapova, wouldn't it be awesome ? That would bring badminton fans in droves ! Every game would be standing room only.
