Actually even if both CAN and US won 5-0, it's immaterial. All 3 will end on 2 wins 1 loss but the differential favours France (10-5), US (9-6), CAN (9-6). US would take 2nd based on head to head result.

USA took tight first game, 22-20.

IND beats SCO on MX. Saina Nehwal vs. Susan Hughes coming up.

Plain and simple, POL has to beat JAP to qualify for the group 2 playoff against SIN. Score is immaterial. JAP leading 19-17 in XD rubber which is bad news for POL as it's one of the disciplines they had a chance to take.

Oops, they've caught up to 19-19. Great finish on the cards.

I have a feeling that UKR will be a tough competitior for USA. Hopefully we can beat them though and come out ahead of Canada for once without any help of Tony Gunawan or Halim Heryanto!

The Russian girls took the first set from the 2 singles players, Yao Jie & Judith Meulendjiks, playing doubles together with the score of 21-17.

Let's see if the the 2 singles players can redeem themselves in the second and hopefully third set this women doubles match.

USA lost to UKR 2-3 after the men singles and women's singles & doubles failed to beat their opponents.

NO SF for anyone other than group 1. France will qualify to play India to determine who gets promoted to Group 2.

Speaking of group 2, JAP and POL are tied 2-2 with the WD now being played. Wacha upset Sato in the MS while the JAP MD turned the tables on the POL pair. WD score in 1st game is JAP 9-9 POL. Winner meets SIN in playoff final.

there is no semi-finals for Group3. they have matches to determine the ranking 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8.

here is the current points on complete matches:

    FRA 13
    USA 6
    CAN 5
    UKR 5

however, one more match is still ongoing, and that's the WD between FRA and CAN. that will determine if CAN or USA gets to be 2nd in the group.

USA will finish ahead of Canada either on game differential (depending on the Can v Fra result) or head to head result.

oh, actually, scratch that. if CAN wins the WD, USA CAN will be 6-6, but CAN trails in the number of games won by 16-11, so CAN isn't going to beat USA anyway.

    so group standing will be:

    FRA
    USA
    UKR
    CAN

The JAP 'ko girls lead POL 16-14 in a tight one.

Looks like NED are going to escape with a win over RUS, up 19-10 in WD rubber
