Yeah, and there are bunch of talented teammates who waiting to take his place. So I'm sure he's still has something in him that make him holding the first single place of China.
The MS is getting more and more interesting with the balance of quality for each top player. Anything can happen like Bao beat TH and boonsak win the SO.

when your team is 4-0, you tends to relax a little bit.

if this is the first game, the result might be differ.

Had a chance to watch the match on TV while vacationing in beijing, all I can say is... If your team is up 4-0 and your berth is already secured, there's really no point for LD to try very hard and risk injurying himself in an otherwise meaningless match... Had this been an earlier game or had the score been tie 2-2 I'm sure he'll be playing with much more fire than what he showed...

interesting that this is the first match that China has lost including the 2005 SC, 2006 TC and 2006 UC.

I watched the match. LD was not relaxed . He looked lost because he was outclassed by LCW in every department. 80% of his smashes turned out for show because of LCW's incredible defence whereas 80% of LCW's smashes turned out killers. And LCW's netplay is No.1;TH would look No.2 here. I mean, how many times can any top 10 nurse the shuttle over the net in an upside down U path to land right on the line? If they can do it once, it's an achievement. LCW did it like 3 times! When LCW is No. 1 in speed, No. 1 in defence,No.1 in netplay and No. 1 in effective offense, what else can LD do?
And LD had the crowd support; not only that, LD got free points from the umpire and service judge (the real score should have been like 21-14;21-14). Good thing LCW is smart enough to not get distracted but just get on with his business.LCW pretty much control the match.

That's what Lin Dan has to convince himself about his lost, lack of motivation, not because Lee Chong Wei played better. In reality, these players are in the same level(LCW on the way up while Lin Dan is sliding down in form) so the 85% of Lin Dan is just not good enough to beat the 95% of Lee Chong Wei.
I am for one very critical of Misbun but I am wrong, good for Misbun able to turn around LCW career in such a short span. Now, how can Misbun turn around Hafiz?

and this only goes to prove what i have always said since day one: LCW outclasses his teammates when it comes to mental strength. just end of last year he suddenly lost his trust coach Li Mao, after a bit of struggle, he has picked himself up and put himself back into top form. and now, even in the last match on a already lost tie, he was still motivated to play his best badminton.

    hats off to LCW.

as for LD, well, player performance goes up and down, just pick it up and come back during the WC.

congrats to China, and congrats to LCW....

but why do normal people (who are probably nice guys on court) turn in to stuck up, cocky, biased, black-and-white-viewing sportsfans when it comes to their idols?

LCW played a terrific match (I saw it on TVants) and LD looked slightly down (not under pressure? frustrated? who knows...). but why not just leave it at that? (LD lost the fire, lcw will win wc07 jada jada jada) it's just one match...

Because you have chaps like Han who still believe LD lost not because LCW's superior. If LD was unmotivated, why were the scores moving neck-to-neck in the early stages? LD never go into a match to lose. When he knows he will lose, he will cop out, like in TO06 and IO07.
Because you have commentators like Andrew Smith and Gillian? who behave like grovellers when they started talking about LD's achievements...AS making a big point about LCW beating LD twice but only in Malaysia....towards the end, they both like went silent...... This is not just one match. This is one match to shut up AS and G so that they can learn to think before they talk.
This match is another watershed for LCW,just like the IO07 victory.
Funny enough, he may not win in Malaysia, who knows.

And not to forget our favorite Danish star, Mr. Peter Gade, as he wishes
to make a grand exit hopefully with a gold medal in WC & Olympics.

I think most of the LD fans (myself included) would agree that LCW played better today, that LD lost to a stronger player today.

However, each player's and country's fans are always going to find reasons to justify their idols' losses and glorify the same players when they win.

I see an entire thread here filled primarily with large praises to one single match victory and how LD got completely outclassed and how there's no excuses for his losses, while at the same time I see another entire thread about how the lack of a coach being present caused an MD team's loss! Why the hypocrisy then!?

If LD has no excuses today then neither does KKK/TBH.

LCW won superbly in two sets today over his arch-rival LD while CY/FHF dominated their counterparts and have shown they're the undisputed number 1 currently.

There's so much complaints here when people try to rationalize LD's losses yet none when other players lose and the excuses fly all about??!!

to be fair, the whole "lacking a coach" thread isn't all making excuses. quite a few members did have very objective view of the situation. only a few individuals had their emotions gotten the better of them.

This thread is starting to be more like war of the fans.

LD fans are giving reasons why they think he lost, while LCW fans are like in your face LD.

For me, and some other people out there think that it's just a good match and a well earned victory for LCW.

I'm just hoping that the finals will be China VS Malaysia so that we can see some more exciting exciting match like today.

kudos to LCW, but the problem is, the tie wasn't that important, so i doubt LD was too motivated to win. i think in a knockout individual tournament, we'll see a more inspired performance.

yeah, LCW trounced LD just to show those darn commentators, that's right! ;):p

LCW is an amazing player, so is LD...both love the game and showed up on court today because they want to play and win...It's really quite pointless to argue about why one lost... In the end one of them has to lose, and the top is close enough to get varying results (no player will álways beat the other)

I didn't see the match but it is very reasonable to ask whether you can truly give it your all for a match that doesn't matter to the final outcome. LD prolly never likes to lose even in practise but even so, it likely had some bearing especially since he knows that the tourney isn't over and energy saved might come in handy later.

Although I favor LCW more than LD, I think we should all be fair and recongized the score of 21-17 in both sets are close enough to not be considered as being "trounced" up on!

I remember that at some point in his career, LCW lost in 2 sets to other players such as PG & BCL & TH with a worst score (usually against TH).

I guess this is people's inital reaction to LCW having finally won a game from LD on neutral ground. I understand but I wish we would all respect other players and their fans.

I'm sorry..I should've been more clear...but that was a parody, I was being sarcastic (note the smily faces?)

I'm not really a "fan" of any player (or maybe a fan of all players?) but what that post shoudl translate to was a less blunt equivalent to "LCW beat LD today, great for him, bad for LD, now everybody just get over yourself"

;) in my defence: I tríed to be nice at first :p (see, smileys again, meaning I'm happy, not angry or frustrated)

Okay sorry about the first part of my post as I thought you meant something negative towards LD.

But just like the rest of my post, I agree with you that people should get over themselves with small wins or defeats. This is a common trend that I've noticed, especially when KKK/TBH start beating TG/CW & FHF/CY and the other way around when FHF/CY beat KKK/TBH for the first time.

This sort of thing is childish because we should look at the overall bigger picture, like LD's consistency or TH's major accomplishments rather than who was able to beat LD or TH in one particular tournament.
