    to summarize today's results...

it is important to have a strong and BALANCED team in order to win in the Sudirman Cup.

Malaysia lost to England. MAS is strong in the men's side, but relatively weaker on the lady's side. as soon as the MD loses, then the match is not longer in favor of MAS and then the chance will be even.

Indonesia lost to Korea. Korea is stronger in both MS, MD and XD. but similarly, the moment they loses XD, the tie become even chances.

i love how both the ties comes out though. the winner wasn't apparent until the very last WD doubles match. very exciting and jaw biting indeed especially for the MAS/ENG match.

    My observations:

Malaysia is stronger in singles and England is stronger in doubles, since XD is a double event, so Malaysia lost finally. (Mas: mS, wS; Eng: mD, wD, xD)

Indonesia is stronger in men's while Korea is stronger in ladies. Since Korea won the XD, so Korea defeated Indonesia. (Ina: Ms, Md; Kor: Ws, Wd, Xd)

Hong Kong are stronger in same gender pairs and Danes are better in single gender events. Since there is only one player for each gender in XD, so Denmark won. (HK: mD, wD; Den: mS, wS, Xd)

China are stronger in all events, since XD is just one event in all event, so China won.

Conclusion, no matter what area you are stronger, if you are stronger in XD, you got to won. XD is the key!

Yes. Very Surprised..Malaysia lost to England. Indonesia also lost to Korea.

    Group B is heavy group.

I hope: Ina can beat Denmark and Ina can beat Hongkong.

and Korea can beat Hongkong and korea lost Denmark

So Korea, Denmark and INA got the same 2 times win..

    :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying: sad to c m'sia lost.. may b they r over confident..

not only need to pray hard for the next match, but oso pray hard so that england lost to thailand or mayb pray more harder so that china lost to malaysia..

if only thailand beat england, or m'sia beat china (but it seems like not possible la), then only m'sia will have a chance to get into semis...

Maybe MAS veteran pair of LWW/CTF stand a better chance against ENG. Wonder what was their 'head-to-head' score in the past?

That's true. For every Div 1 tie, the one common denominator for the winner is that they won the XD.

Malaysia used to struggle because they can only get the MS and MD points. But now, even when the women's department managed to snatch a point, KKK/TBH became the big letdown. Such was Malaysia's progress in the women's events, that even the WD loss was considered a minor upset.

Denmark's MD pair was also a letdown. This point could cost them if it came down to the matches-won-lost tie-breaker.

The biggest upset of all had to be Indonesia's loss of the XD match, which eventually cost them the tie.

    Are you sure?

The Keys should be Howard, Eva and Lili.
All three have to play 200% to win 2 points each.
Howard/Eva one point, Lili/Eva one point, Lili (Single) one point.
Howard/Bob 50/50, but that was an amazing 25-27 loss to canada.

    Ina vs Denmark:

    TH vs Peter = 1-0
    Kido/Hendra vs Erisksen/ = 2 -0
    Flandy / Vita vs Den MD = 3 - 0
    Maria Kristin vs WS Den = 4 - 0
    Vita / Poly vs WD = 5 - 0

Finally Ina will top the group.

I really doubt DEN will field JE/MLH in back-to-back matches, especially after yday's performance. They'll field LP/JR is they are in the squad, still i think MK/HS will prevail..

As for MS, XD I think DEN are slight favourites.. and outright favourites for WS.

Then again, logic and common sense wouldn't really affect your predictions involving INA :)
