It's obvious that CHN is the clear favorite and they are too under lots of pressure.
It takes tremendous effort and luck too for other teams to beat CHN. However, it's not totally impossible and don't forget this is a team event.

Some kind of injury. And she went on to win the IO07 the following week? If she were injured, why didn't she give INA the WO? If she were playing non CHN WD,do you think she would have given the WO? Why can't you have the decency to give non-CHN the credit where credit's due? CHN XD may be strong but also the most unpredictable. In WB06, didn't CHN field the most number of XDs and yet none made the finals? I would be the least sure of CHn XDs if I were you.

So according to your assumption, China's chance for the title is:
    (1-0.5*0.5*0.5)*(1-0.5*0.5*0.5) = 76%

Why China sent so many journalists, and even many chefs and cooks with their team?

I thought anywhere, as long as there are people, there are Chinese restaurants. You can find Chinese restaurants at every corner of the world. Only Kings or Queens have chefs travelling with them.

It means CHN must win;they are taking no chances of any food poisoning.Besides,UK is so expensive it 's probably cheaper to fly the chefs and cooks in...By the way, 76% chance of CHN winning does not look good.I thought the others would only have a 1% chance! Now this looks like 24%. wow!

76% chance is NOT my conclusion. It is the direct result from hcpoirot's assumption.

I think China should be more than 50% in any event except vs Malaysia mens' double. I don't think they are 100% at Women's single either. On Mixed double, ZB/GL have 100% against other team except Indo in which they have 80% (won 4 times and lost 1 time)

Anybody knows how much money the local organization needs to pay the IBF to host Sudirman cup?

I'm wondering the business model for Sudirman cup. From the poor press conference in the picture. It doesn't seem to be well organized and the cash flow also seems to be a problem.

Badminton, as a profession to the players, and as an industry to the association, should be a revenue machine for the people participate in.

But from all the information here, China spent huge amount of money to gain nothing but empty "glories". So it is well explained that only China, the communist country, could win this cup. On another word, IBF runs on communist funds. If everything were money driven, like fully capitalism, then IBF and Sudirman cup would be dead already.

My assumption is in very optimistic side of other teams favor.

Cause if my assumption is realistic.

MS: Lin Dan had at least 57-43 against any other team MS except Taufik.

    LD VS Taufik 53-47

MD: Cai/Fu also had at least 55-45 against any other teams MD except TBH/KKK

    Cai/Fu VS TBH/KKK is 50:50

XD: Gao/ZB had 90-10 against Malaysia XD
Gao/ZB had 60-40 against Denmark XD
Gao/ZB had 57-43 against England, Thai, Korea pairs.
Gao/ZB had 55-45 against Indonesia pairs.

So China chances is pretty good. About 80% something before the match started.

But If their XD won at first matches, the chances become 100% won!
Even when their XD lost, their chances still very high. Cause if their MS won, the chances again become 100% win.

Even when their MS lost, their MD still had better chances against any other MD except for Malaysia MD.

But against Malaysia, at least China will win 3 point from XD, WS and WD. So before the match started, China VS Malaysia is already 3-0 if China players play as usual.

Okay, here is my prediction China against any other team even before the play start.

Note here: Although China WS and WD is not 100% yet against any other teams players, but with the amazingly players in their WS and WD , LYB will easily rotate the players so the players would not tired at all.

Example: ZN play at Monday, XXF play at Tuesday, ZN play Wednesday, XXF play SF than ZN play the final.

If Malaysia reach final, WMC already had to play 5 times including the final. She will be a little tired, meanwhile XXF or ZN will be very fresh waiting in final.

    The same also for WD.

For MD and XD, LYB probably play Cai/FU and Gao/ZB except when they meet very weak team.

For MS, BCL and CJ probably play in group matches but LD will surely play SF and Final.

So here is the score before the match even started:

China- Malaysia : 3-0 (from XD, WS and WD)
China-Thailand : 3-0 (From MD, WS and WD)
China -England) : 4-0 (From WS, MS, MD and WD)

China - Hong KOng (it extremely impossible) : 4-0 (From MS, MD, XD and WD)

China- Denmark : 3-0 (From XD, WS and WD)

China- Korea : 3-0 ( From MS, WS and WD)

China- Indonesia : 2-0 (I am very optimistic here for Indonesia team :D) From WS and WD.

So even before the matches started, China already had the matches in their side if China players play as usual. (not any injury or other reason)

Maybe just maybe only Indonesia team had the biggest chances (About 20%) compare to other team to challenge China this year.

CHN team came in prepared full board..

..wow, sure looks like they came in prepared with all the in-house chefs/cooks and "homemade" meals...Btw, aren't they the "Kings and Queens of the badminton world"?!?!..;):)
I think it's partly both, they want to save a bit of cost as well as to have the players well fed with familiar foods...;)

There won't be any difference in the end results even if the rest of the world versus China in Sudirman Cup. As China is just too strong in WD, WS, XD and MS.

If the rest of the world ( or just South East Asia Team) versus China in Thomas Cup, then, it is 50% : 50%.
