I heard that WYL is recovering from his waist injury, thus choosing to opt out. HDP is also having injury, but not much serious, and she chose to participate.

Usually when one half of a double pair is injured, they both opt out. Interesting that she is playing with someone else.

I just hope Feng Yanzhe can make the most for this rare opportunity. Although they will face Bass/Popor very early in both Denmark and French Open. The XD sector really need a new reliable pair to back up for Zheng/Huang and Wang/Huang.

In the just concluded Indonesia IC, Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin only lost to Dejan/Gloria in the final, quite encouraging for a new debut pair. WYX was quite weak in defense and backcourt play. She only did dropshot and rushed into the net, no smash to pressure the opponents at all. Hope that she can improve on that :)

her defense is not that bad but her backcourt play is worse. that is covered by her partner who has a good smash. Surprised to see yaxin wei has a weak smash because she played singles before. But it emphasizes the problem that China facing in singles category as most of the players have a weak smash.

If I'm not wrong, the world ranking points are updated every Thursday the following week after the end of each tournament.

Let's see how he fares against WhY today. He doesn't have the subtle touches.
Also a good player controls the game, he doesn't know how to do that and relies on his power game. LCW was like that when he was young, too fast, but he became patient and didn't allow his opponent to dictate play.

I saw a bit of Liu Liang.

I am also not impressed by the players in the WJC. Maybe I am expecting too much.

I am sure covid restrictions has affected their development. In China, you get lots of repeated lockdowns.

Well done, Han Yue knocking out Marin who's on the comeback trail in R2 of the Denmark Open S750 '22, treating us to thrilling attacking badminton from start to finish. No mean feat. Way to go !
