Your putting it another way didn't help.. because help or elaboration wasn't needed. We agree.
I just think that VA would prefer their next meeting asap.. while his recent victory is still.. recent. While he has the feeling of knowing how it needs to be done. The further into the future their next meeting is, the further in the past this victory will be. I think he feels prepared now.. to use your quotes (if not for minor injuries).
And that is also one reason why I think his withdrawal had nothing to do with this.
Another reason is just that it isn't how VA is.

Wow you guys read really deep into this. Viktor is a better player right now and he knows it, this has nothing to do with Momota. With WC coming up, it's smart not to risk injuries if his body is telling him to take a break.

I just saw the replay from Viktor Axelsen vs Loh Kean Yew at the WC. What a disappointment from Viktor this WC. He was the overwhelming favorite to win, especially since Momota had to withdraw. Viktor has always had trouble beating Momota and when Viktor won the WC in 2017, Momota was not in that WC to stop him. Viktor took advantage of Momota's absence in the 2017 WC and won it. Now Momota had to withdraw from this WC so it was another golden opportunity for Viktor. But Viktor laid an egg.

Oh well, at least Viktor didn't lay an egg at the Olympics, probably the more prestigious medal (although WC is probably the 2nd most prestigious medal in badminton, after the Olympic medal). Still, it was a good opportunity and Viktor missed it. Congrats to Loh Kean Yew though who played very well and dominated Viktor in sets 2 and 3.

Strange. I thought he had finally managed to control his emotions over the past 2 yrs. But he essentially lost to himself and had a psychological meltdown in G3.

He wanted to show Loh who's top dog with the strongest attack and refused to play any other shot. Just smashes all match, no drops, no variations...Loh knows his game well and blocked all his smashes and Viktor was on tilt.

4 consecutive years of being in the All England final with 2 wins under his belt - Viktor now has as many AE trophies as Chen Long while being in 1 more final, amazing feat indeed.

The first game reminds me of AE 2017 when LCW was toying around with Shi Yuqi and he had no answer for it, even the profile of the players are rather similar, master vs student. A year later, Shi Yuqi came back to beat Lin Dan (another student vs master counter) in the final for the championship, it would be interesting to see if Sen could replicate that.

Told u viktor just loitering around.in german open 2022 by losing to sen. I notice some jealousy already. Wakaka.

Viktor has his eyes on big s1000 or s750 tournaments only. He is a pro. This is where the big money is. He is not stupid to waste energy to.win small tournaments. ;)

Even for wc. Viktor knows he won before and he is not gg to beat lin dan record. Why waste time and effort? There is no money in wc. So, give it to lky. buddy buddy. Lky got good money. They can share the loot. Wakaka. ;)

Viktor is over coming his weaknesses after reading my notes perhaps? Lol.

Why VA doesn't display Denmark Flag on his jersey?

    Probably only in team events.

He’s an independent player representing himself.

What a phenomenal player he is turning out to be. What is more astonishing is how dominant he is in the current MS field, being an independent player training in a less popular county for badminton. Go Viggo!!

With the demise of Kento after his horrible car accident and eye surgery, Victor is so bloody dominant that he hasn't a dropped a game in the WC, no sure which past MS WC has done that. It's a shame no one can challenge him right now and it'd getting boring him winning all the major tittles. When Kento was 'around' before his pre-accident years, he often won against Victor but now it's a one way traffic for Victor!

I reject that it's nothing to do with Kento, if Kento was his former self, Victor would have lost as Kento was very dominant and don't think anyone can beat his record of wining 11 titles in one year.

In the past we had LD, LCW, CL as rivals. Now its all Victor!

First of all, it is Viktor ;)
Viktor also won the Olympics without dropping a game. I didn't do a full research but I know that Lin Dan also won both Olympics and WC without dropping a game, one of each (2007 and 2008).
