I do think that Gill is 'interviewing' lots of potential candidates by having those guest 'player co-commentator' sessions
If she does not know badminton, she cant be 7 or 8 times National champion from India but the problem is she is just commentating without expressing nuances of the game.
Maybe she is just filling the gap of that male commentator who used to say " please somebody call police " . I thought atleast she was a professional Badminton player but that male commentator used to commentate all the sports without knowing it. For me, she does not fit this job. Not everybody fits in.
Very boring commentating... No insights. All this phrases used by someone who doesn't SEEM to know too much about our sport .. Gesendet von meinem XQ-AS52 mit Tapatalk
Does anyone know why China has not sent a single MD? According to the invitation list they all declined. And the next ones in line also declined.
So Choi & Seo of Korean MD go the QF of the World Championships with just beating the Taiwanese pair! They had neve played a single match before. What a load of crap by BWF when players have Bye and then next round opposition retires/withdraws or whatever you want to call it.
Two underdogs will vie World Championships medal tomorrow, Zhao JP creates a massive upset to topple one of hot favourites Lee ZJ, the Chinese formidable defense and his alertness of Lee quality attacking shots also smart counter attacking as well ramped up the pressure for Lee to control the match and dictate the rally. Meanwhile the persistent Prannoy continues his excellent run to beat last year bronze medalist Sen, his first ever victory over local star Momota yesterday has elevated confidence. The Japanese is experiencing lowest point of his career, suffered agonizing defeat at home soil. Anthony Ginting finally breaks the jinx to beat Shi YQ in their 7th meeting, the Indonesian scored point effectively through his delicate net play and deadly smashes. Shi consistently pushed the Indonesian into the back line corner to construct the rally that troubled his opponent mostly in second game. A see-saw battle in third game, Ginting managed hefty lead before Shi made strong comeback to reverse the lead, 18-15 then a string of unforced errors at the net ended the Chinese journey in Tokyo. Overall, Shi still looked sluggish, inaccurate and mentally unprepared well to play big match in this prestigious event on his international comeback. Giant clash will be served tomorrow, Axelsen has smooth ride towards quarterfinal stage. Defending champion Loh KY is expected to contest tough match tomorrow, rematch of SEA Games gold medal match last May when the Singaporean succumbed to Thai wonder kid patient rally game. An enthralling WD third round witnessed three-time World Champion Carolina Marin steel determination and magical moment denies four match points as He BJ can't handle nervousness, the Chinese played precise strategy to propel all out attack against the aggressive rival who's not in finest form yet. Yamaguchi will be next arduous route for Marin followed by likely An SY if the Korean could subdue the surprising package Han Yue. Bottom-half of draw seems predictable, badminton enthusiats will look forward another Chen YF-Tai TY saga unless Michelle Li or Ongbamrungpan could spring shocking result. The Canadian unnerved former World Champion Intanon who's missing the shots too much while Li court coverage and tactic went on into right direction. Minions crashed out, no huge surprise as their golden era is already over and grim outlook to nail World Champion title, one more chance next year in Copenhagen. Taiwanese duo Lee/Wang are back into square one, become toothless and don't display the Olympic Champion quality. Looks like India MD combination have good prospect to bag medal this time, Arjun/Kapila will challenge the Daddies and Rankireddy/Shetty find home favourites Hoki/Kobayashi.
Commentating is just a job for all those ppl. Even Gill made the fundamental mistake of saying nty potential was only found out during the cw games. If she was really a badminton enthusiast she would not have said that. The only difference is, she probably takes her job more seriously by finding out the history of the players etc. But then most of the time, she does not provide much insights as well.
Ok mistake on bwf side. But then are you claiming choi and SEO has an advantage by not playing those 2 games? The Taiwanese pair probably got the advantage by playing against their counterparts as they are more match fit.
Most of the seeded doubles got a bye in their first round, it’s pretty fair there, and I agree its actually a disadvantage they dint get play even if just to experience the court to get match fit, luckily they both played XD, so they at least have something. And as a seeded pair, im sure they did not expect their first match to be against Olympic champions lol
