Hmm. I haven’t watched the matches. Hope Chris landgridge can do more tournaments.

The recent Taiwan Open commentator wasn’t so good.

Yesterday’s decision not to field Lakshya in final , I could relate the same to what Malaysia management did in Thomas Cup. They didn’t field Aaron/Soh against Satwik Chirag in TC and instead let Other pair play. That was a blunder.

The one who pronounce An Se Young as Ng Tze Yong or Ng Tsz Yau...no tactical analysis.

I wouldn't be too sure. I feel LS and NZY have similar styles...cept maybe LS has a tad better defense... Other departments.. pretty similar. So it might be a toss up. I could be wrong. But this is for another post's discussion

I’m not saying lakshya would have beaten Ng Tze Yong for sure. All I’m questioning is management’s decision.

I think it is fair. Srikanth had demolished Ng Tze Yong in the Badminton Asia Championships and the Thomas Cup just 2 months before and it wasn't even close. If Lakshya Sen lost to Ng Tze Yong, everyone would be saying the coaching team was insane for not fielding Srikanth.

Granted, I also think Lakshya Sen is the better player and should have been fielded, especially considering his convincing performance against Loh Kean Yew in the SF. But historically, his recent match against Ng Tze Yong in the Indian Open at the start of the year went to 3 games.

Perhaps you can say that the Indian coaching team placed too much emphasis on the H2H as opposed to more current form.

But then, in the Thomas Cup QFmatch against India, Rexy chose recent form (Goh/Izzudin) opposed to historical H2H (Chia/Soh) and lost. Basically nothing is ever certain and it is difficult to analyse with the benefit of hindsight bias.
