Damn... INA already dominated MD, WD still lost to CHN in these 4 Asian (INA, MAS and SING events) :(. CHN still dominates WS, XD.

I took my daughter to some grass roots training in Malaysia. She joined state junior player level groups in KL and Ipoh. I was very impressed at how active the coaches were and how they try to get the players to improve. One of the groups had to keep a training diary - if the player lost their diary, they would have to do extra exercises.

Another example was my daughter playing mixed doubles. After one game, the coach asked the guy to explain to my daughter where she would need to position herself on court during the next game - my daughter reported back her partner could only say “这样 ..这样 ..然后..” with some sign language. :D Leesons in communication :)

I saw some other groups training at less advanced level. Some of the coaches were quite pushy but fair as well. I actually quite like that to instil the attitude of coming training to improve. I feel a lot of HK coaches aren’t demanding enough - maybe because the parents are too protective. Sunday morning sessions were really busy - 32 courts all booked by various users

Parents should not be on the court. You can still peek from a hidden place.

You need strict coaches to push them to the limit. Crying is normal. Even lcw and lindan felt like quitting during younger days. Else they may slacked.

M'sian news sometimes is just horrible. It never state where the expectation came from and they like to click/read bait with title.

Seriously? Not a single Malaysian player got through to the finals of the Malaysian junior international 2022. Young Japanese players completely dominated the event
Not even the much touted Justin Ho.
    Should we be concerned?

Whilst disappointing, losses are important for reflection and analysis.

Where are players falling short? Which part of their game do they need to work on? Do they know where their weaknesses are?

A young player has many areas that need development and needs time. Some players are late developers.

We should be grateful that potential issues are can be identified earlier than later with Malaysia hosting an international junior tournament.

    Maybe, maybe not.
Malaysian juniors had won a few titles in the past few junior tournaments and most of them did not get to play any JPN, CHN or KOR players, so this failures will help to analyze the shortcomings.
Justin Hoh is almost 19, there's no need for him to win in junior tournaments anymore.
The good thing is the newly approved national junior elite programme which allows recognized junior players to be sent to senior tournaments in the coming years.

I wouldn't be too worried. Not all great players are Junior Champions.

Following an unbeaten streak in WJC Team Event, Justin Hoh (3) is drawn toward Alex Lenier (1), the prodigy of France badminton.
Can he win the World Junior title in his last year or at least get a medal?

Will a great champion be a good coach and bring success to his charges?
