Fajar using Kevinesque backhand cross shot to perfection. Many players are adopting that shot i see. This cross shot is so good bcoz its so unexpected. the MAS pair has no answer for Rian smash.
Serious question - Why is Istora always filled with fangirls? It seems more like a Kpop concert crowd than a typical badminton crowd. A couple of observations from my relatively high level badminton groups here: 1) real badminton players in Indo are relatively cheap - most won't splurge for these tickets 2) many of them aren't even interested in watching the athletes live It's just hard to believe these fangirls are fans when they don't even play the sport.
yeah there are lots of fangirls but lets say this is the mindset these days, they are also crazy about male kpop stars. I dont know if if females actress or athletes have that many fans at all. To put it, if there is only WS & WD, i doubt these girls will come and watch Guys also have the players they admire but to watch a packed Istora , even me wouldnt want. Its just like packed sardines there. And when you can watch at the comfort of home, why even bother spending the tickets at all.. i d prolly watch at Istora one day but not will all these fangirla lol. It wasnt like this when i was at Stadium Perpaduan.
The expensive ticket prices definitely backfired. ~10 years ago I could get a week pass for ~1 million IDR and the non final days were relatively quiet, easy to get access to players and interact with them. The fans were real fans back then.
Watching live at the stadium today seems to be a new trend among young people (not only fans girl actually), I'm not surprise actually if this is happen for badminton whose players are already worldwide, they even same crazy when supporting for local football league matches. Whether they like the sport is still a question, but IMHO it looks like they are looking for an idol, and they idolize the players. Just look at how many top players get merchandise from Indonesian fans every time a match takes place in Indonesia. ASY in an interview said that she is more famous in Indonesia than in her own country.
5 years ago i think MO season tickets is 1 mill rupiah and def not more than 1.5mill rupiah for nice seats too.
1 think i realise is Jonatan doesnt follow Kevin in IG and vice versa. I think theres bad blood there because they are the 2 most famous.
I recall LZJ also beat him once at Chinese Taipei Open semifinals when he was still ranked 50+ in the world. LZJ then went on to win the tournament to get his first World Tour title. Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
They're badminton player lover not truly badminton fans, most of them triggered by K-drama or C-Entertertainment and their top priority is visual appearance.
What an absolutely terrible display from Sen, Prannoy was in full control that match. Something’s up with him man. Or maybe the good form he was in has dried up.
Well, Chou TC lost to Momota (Thomas Cup) then Tommy Sugiarto (R/32 Thailand Open) in following week last month. This 32 years old veteran has surprising run in Jakarta after secured runner-up on Sunday. He beat coming-of-age player Vitidsarn then will up against Lee CY tomorrow, interesting to wait how long his stamina would last...
It seems like Lakshya sen was schooled by his senior . Prannoy drumrolled over Sen in straight games. I never expected this scoreline. 21-10, 21-9 is absolutely one sided.
