It looks rather slow to my eyes compare to a Yonex tensioner, is there a faster mode? Would like to see it pull a badminton string, which has higher stretch/travel on a pull than tennis string, and thus the speed matters.
Hello Paul, this is a prototype or first sample. But the machines we will sell will be nearly the same. The motor position will be a lttle bit different and higher. i think the price will be somewhere around 1799 to 1899 Euro and we will start to sell the machine in 6 - 12 months. Maybe we give s_mair the prototype to test
I don‘t know which speed option was used in the video but there are 3 speed options to choose with the motor. I don‘t know if it makes sence to compare a 1800 Euro machine to 8000 Euro machine which has a motor with a chain inside. For this kind of motors you have to choose/compare the machines like stringmaster B-TM which cost somewhere around 3500 and 3800 Euro. As you know i‘m more specialist for tennis and we are producing machine then more then 20 years. We have professional stringers (which job is to string rackets - nothing else) which string on the biggest tennis tournaments on the world with tecnifibre machines and as second machine the string master deluxe with wise tensionhead and they never claimed that the pulling speed is to low. Since we sell machines you are the first person who ask for the pulling speed. And we also sell machines from Head, yonex, wilson, dunlop and so on which cost more then 5000 Euro. I also never read here in this forum that the pulling speed is an important criterium. Also not at the cheap wise motor with 3 speed options.
We complain about the pull speed of the WISE all the time. The difference between tennis and badminton is that tennis strings are much stiffer and don't stretch much after pulling starts. Badminton strings are less stiff and stretches a few more inches. So while slow pull is tolerable, it'd nice if there is a machine that can pull faster. We are always looking for an upgrade from the WISE here and the Tennisman does look really nice.
I think the pulling speed will be not much faster then the wise motor speed. s_mair can test this if he want to test the machine. I was not aware that this is such an important point. Btw.there are multifilament and gut tennis strings which stretch a lot. On the video there is a polyester string which does not stretch
You are right to compare the motor with wise and not with motors of 8000 Euro machines with chain inside. The chain motors are better but also much much more expensive
Fully agree. If you're going for that price tag, it will be direct WISE alternative and that will be the standard to measure it against. I would of course be all-in to test that thing. I just hope it will be able to mount it on the short-base machines like my StringMaster Deluxe SE as well.
That price is for just the motor, right? That would be 2,5-3x the WISE? Not completely honest to compare, then. Or is it for the whole machine with turntable? Then it looks mighty fine! (Stop giving me GAS, thank you ) I especially like the gripper activation!
Based on those two sentences, I'm guessing it's the price for the whole machine. Which is only around 150 EUR more expensive than the current version with the WISE. The big question to me is: Will the motor will be available on its own? It clearly has a bigger footprint than the slim WISE which will make it harder to mount it on different machines. If there is an easy way to do that, I'd say that this thing could be a true WISE-killer. I'd me more than willing to spend 150 bucks extra for the reduced noise and that amazing gripper. And then offer an integrated tool tray that can be mounted on the motor to make it look something close to this: Again, another immediate purchase, no questions asked.
I‘m not shure if we offer the motor extra. It is not made to upgrade crank or drop weight machines. It has 4 holes on the floor. So you need a long base to fix it. There will be no tool tray, beqause most of our machines we mount it already have a tool tray. The designer made many suggestions, also with tool tray, but the cost for this was much higher. We are a small company and the price was to high for us.
that's the downside of the bigger rectangle footprint. I hope the screws are in a place that it will at least fit on the short base StringMasters. I wouldn't mind if the motor block sticks out to the side a bit - that's what the WISE is doing already like big time. Cool thing would be to implement this as an extra upgrade package. First you get the clients hooked on the motor alone, then offer the separate tool tray for another 100 bucks and so on and so forth. But okay, that would be just a nice-to-have option and is nothing really important.
Nice work with the tensioner! Like Kwun said earlier the WISE pull speed is the biggest complaint we have haha. Would you be making the tensioner compatible with other machines? Also, is the motor turning a screw like the WISE? There probably would be a lot of people including myself that would purchase one to replace the WISE. Quieter - Check Top end gripper - Check Get the pull speed up and I'm sold.
WISE is a really low bar to hit. Awfully slow, noisy, and clunky operation. Many of us are using it because it is the only thing available and it is cheap. If someone comes up with an alternative that can be better at a reasonable price, it will be an instant winner. Priority is speed, smoother operation, and quietness. The mounting isn't that big of an issue. A suitable mounting plate can be fabricated if needed.
I think we have seen the tensioner from the same OEM on other machines before... However the gripper looks like it is a bit different also the look is better. This motor paired with the stringmaster machine is a potential killer setup. Amazing value for money.
100% sure about this. Find a way to make an easily adaptable mounting plates and look for a local partner to actually produce them (laser cut aluminium sheets, some holes and some kind of powder coating shouldn't cost the world) and you would be selling a sh*tload of them. When in doubt, ask Michal Chudek to take care of the construction for the mounting solution. Thinking about it, personally I won't put the speed on prio #1. Noise and smoothness is much more important to me - it's not like I'd have to wait for the tensioner a lot.
Noise is my main gripe with the wise. That and only 2 memory slots. I'd like to be able to jump the tension up 1lb at a time, not tap through all the 0.1 increments. I suppose I could bank main and cross tension each job, but that's just as clunky. The gripper action looks super slick, but the lever is placed such that I don't think it would save much time. I'd still be interested to know the price of these when available separately, but I replaced my wise recently, so it would have to be perfect! Sent from my SM-A315G using Tapatalk
@Tennisman I am ready to upgrade my SuperStringer machine with this one, please let me know when it's available
looks like the first machine with the new motor is listed in the shop: https://www.tennisman.de/Weiteres/B...ERSTRINGER-S90-LE-Professional-Badminton.html That's an additional 200 EUR compared to the version with WISE. Having seen the motor live, I'd say that it is worth the money, but I don't think it will become the WISE killer that we would be dreaming of. Edit: And they are offering upgraded clamp bases for the Superstringers now too (that's another 50 EUR on top though):
