Team Singapore has beaten Japan 3-1, which means that they may actually qualify for the Thomas Cup 2022 by beating Kazakhstan tomorrow!
Likely they will beat Kazakhstan and qualify for semifinals along with Malaysia. Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
Meanwhile, Team INA also qualifies for the Uber Cup Finals 2022, and tops the group after beating KOR 3-2. Despite featuring all youngsters, except for the more experienced Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, it wins all its group matches and will likely face JPN on Saturday for a place in the Final.
A good tourney for the youngsters to prove themselves. So far, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo has surprised me - he has beaten the more experienced and higher ranked Lee Cheuk Yiu. Today, he has a hard match against Lakhya Sen. Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and Christian Adinata also beat two opponents. Ikshan Leonardo Immanuel Rumbay has a mixed group stage as he beat Chan Yik Chak in his first match but lost to Kim Joon Wan. All these players (except Christian) will be fielded today against IND. The disappointing performances were from the MD1 Pramudya Kusumawardhana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan as they lost twice - to Law Cheuk Him/Reginald Lee Chun Hei (despite leading 20-16 in the rubber-set, only to be overturned 20-22). They again lost to a scratch pairing Jin Yong/Na Sung Seung yesterday. No wonder they are dropped today to give opportunity to Mohd Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana (who had beaten the Minions and nearly beat Astrup/Rasmussen at the Denmark Open 2021). In MS3, Yonathan Ramlie is given a chance too. So, by the end of the group stage, all INA players sent to this tourney have played. And if they emerge as group winners, they will likely face Singapore (and Loh Kean Yew) for a place in the Final. And players like Fikri/Bagas and Yonathan will likely play their 2nd match too.
Thank you @CLELY Can you please share Women's India vs Japan Sent from my ONEPLUS A6010 using Tapatalk
Ashmita Chaliha just defeated the current world junior champion Reiko Gunji in 3 tough games. Hope to see more of her in the future.
Malaysia won't be out, they beat Kazakhstan and Singapore 5-0. Depending on the result against Japan, either Singapore or Japan will be in the semifinals. No quarterfinal because only 8 teams took part. Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
That's encouraging result for Chaliha to beat JPN promising talent also other close battle between Kashyap and Nidaira.
INA v IND, 3-2. India main arsenal relying on singles discipline as defending champion Indonesia losing first and last point here, Lakshya Sen brought his team early lead to vanquish Chico Aura Wardoyo in narrow margin. Overall, recent World Championships bronze medalist Sen has more mature level of play, his superb defense and tactical while the taller Indonesian has advantage in attacking shot. INA prowess in doubles department fulfill the expectation as predicted also Rumbay who has positive stats against George.
Yes a lot of potential among the young WS players. It would be interesting to see how they develop in future. Kashyap also put up a tough fight against Busanan at India Open.
When INA brings this rosters i thought they will finish 3rd in the group and gets knocked out. now, i think getting Runners up will be great achievement. Is HokiKobayashi playing? I think Malaysia will win the title.
Seriously, Indian women doubles players played so bad. In one set, they were able to win just 1 point.
She’s got very good court movement. one bad habit is hanging her racquet down when moving for overheads
