..unless you are Kento Momota 2018-2019 :).

It will be interesting what happens to LKY in the future. Back in 2019 after beating Lin Dan he wasn't able to keep his optimal form for long.
Now when all the Chinese, Japanese and Indonesian Artificial Intelligence is working to crack his code matters won't be easy either.

In all the five WC matches, one fact is clear. Even when LKY is behind, he somehow manages to catch up in the end. The winner is the one who plays better at the closing stage.
However, SK made LKY work so we had a worthy final. LKY showed amazing coolness under pressure. On the final point, LKY made a winning placement shot that indicated his awareness of SK's anticipation. ( SK was headed the wrong way.)

You don't have to. You only need to do that in major tournament such as WC and OLY

You have to, if you want something like Momota, and become the number 1-2 on rank table.

Win 11 tours include World Championship

Good observation on the final. KS stood and watched the shuttle landed. Normally for high clears, players are able to move backwards and retrieve the shuttles.

Ginting was just phenomenal in that tournament, some of the best matches I have ever watched. I am not convinced however that we will ever see him play as consistent within a tournament as he did that year, sadly. His game style altough very exciting is unsustainable I think.

Let's see about LKY in the next few months, whether he can maintain that 100% all out attacking high-pace style throughout the season. I must say this should be an exciting season for men singles.

Why the interest on how much LKY will get for his success? Beside bonus based on KPI (if there is in his contract with SBA), any incentive from govt or SBA will likely be reveal weeks later. As for endorsements from companies (eg Milo), that will also take time to conclude. Plus advertisement rights, maybe writing a book when he retired, starred in a movie, coaching classes, etc etc.

No, not possible to be WR1 or WR2 from WR22 now. LKY is projected to be WR15 next year. Maybe with a little bit of luck he might achieve WR10, which he aspired to be.

Well.. let us suppose LKY gets about 9000 points from a tournament. Then a tournament with about 4000 points will drop out. So the progress on ranking points is 5000 points. Being in final on seven big tournaments will take him to the fifth place in ranking.. about.

Who cares if he becomes world No.1 or No.2...He will forever be remembered as a WORLD CHAMPION and thats an honour even many No.1s Don't have and here are few of those -:

    1.Mr Lee Chong Wei
    2.Tai tzu Ying
    3.Saina Nehwal
4.Miss Wang Shixian (Most Beautiful no.1 for me)
    5.Mr Prakash Padukone
    6.Mr Peter Gade
    7.Madam Mia Audina
    8.Mr Liem Swei King
    9.Mr Morten Frost
    10.Mr Ardy Bernardus Wiranata
    11.Miss Wang Xin

There are many more than these but I believe it would be too long so Im keeping it short and I have'nt even included the MD,WD,XD No.1s I would probably need a whole thread for that...But Im sure you got my point.

Also there are players who may never have become No.1 like LKY but got their names in history books by winning the WC or Olympics and those are Real heroes because they prove the very fact that Rankings are just a ticket to qualify for big events it doesnt guarantee you the Biggest tittles, what does however, is your Self belief and how badly you want to make history and handle the pressure of the biggest events.

I'd be really mad if LKY the World Badminton Champion is not rewarded a handsome amount...C'mon Singapore I know you are a humble country...Please shower this brave man with all you got,he truly deserves it and this shower will motivate him further to get more WC Medals and may be an Olympic Medal as well and who knows it could as well be a Gold too !

    Cmon SG !!
