Just out of curiosity, is this the first time that we see a player playing double duty (Popov) in both Singles and Doubles categories at the World Tour/Super Series Finals?
The Minions take the first set off the Olympic Champions 23-21. Not bad in terms of fighting spirit, despite trailing 17-19 at the ending stage.
Lee/Wang take a 11-9 lead at the interval. It's still anyone's game now....no clear advantage. The pair who makes fewer errors will likely take this match.
I'm gonna stand by my statement before. Lee/Wang are the weakest Olympic champions I've ever witnessed. And I am pretty surprised that Kevin's rear court play & Gideon's front court control have improved significantly. Just wow. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Errors after errors from Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin as Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo record their first victory in the group stage 23-21, 21-19. It was a good fight-back from the INA pair as the TPE pair started well, leading 7-3 and then 11-9, before the INA pair took control after the interval with a 7-3 run that overturned the lead. The 2 pts lead was maintained until the end. The victory will be a confidence booster, especially since the draw in the World Championships is likely to pit these 2 pairs again. Up next will be Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty tomorrow evening.
What the. Momota retired again?! Probably the quickest retirement in a match ever. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
C’mon Gill & Steen, don’t be disappointed. This is what you will get if you cramp 200 tournaments in 2 months Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They still have to play. Gotta determine who tops the group, which will determine seeding for knockout stage
I still maintain my conviction that the Minions is still INA's best MD pair by a mile. At their best, they will beat everyone. The question is: which side of Minions turn up on the day? The indifferent ones that we saw in the Indonesia Masters up? Or the fired up ones like the one we saw in the last few matches?
