They are one of those token double pairs that India send to every tournament, just to lose in the opening round. Maybe sending them just because they qualify for the draw and nothing else.
I think Chiharu not yet recovered from her ankle injury that she suffered during SC. Hope it's not serious.
Yup, the umpires here seem quite strict. I thought as long as you didn't take too long with the hand up to indicate you're not ready as some opponents tend to serve quickly is fair enough. Also the linecall challenge, not a split second allowed for the player to decide whether to challenge or not, esp when the shuttle is on the opposite side where you can't be too sure and tend to hesitate a short while.
I thought the line call duration is quite ridiculous ... it's like the players cannot even wait for a single second ... Sometimes the players took a while to realise the call and they're not allowed to challenge
I am afraid Han Yue hasnt improved much. A road runner with no deception nor power. Most of her points are from her opponents errors.
Agree. The player may also want to consider the match situation before deciding to risk losing the last remaining challenge. I feel that as long as the player is not looking back at their coaches for instruction, a second or two to consider should be fair.
Yeah, if not for Sayaka T's several unforced errors , Han Yue wouldn't be able to get back into the game in the decider to within one point 14-15. Han Yue's game is too straightforward and she's not reading Sayaka T's game and keep lifting or clearing for her to attack which the latter is very good at, straight down the line or cross-court, followed by rushing the net to force another lift , control the net or put it away. Han Yue should watch how her senior He Bingjiao was able to keep ST guessing and limiting her attacking opportunities at the Uber Cup.
i just hope Yamaguchi won't lose too ugly... given what she is portraying now. A "negative", heavy legs looking Yamaguchi ...
