Haha yeahh. I term it an extra major. So if anyone wants to be close to LD , first win 5 WC golds, 2 OG games gold, 6AE, other major medals (bronze etc) and last but not the least 2 AG gold. H2h, longevity can also come as a factor This year that's why I wanted Momota to win
Athletics - 100m / 200m as well Also showjumping - individual and team event. Dressage too I think. I didn't get to watch any horse events. That's what I don't like in Olympics.
Tennis and badminton is one of the event with longest time needed. Its almost impossible to join multiple event like swimming or atlethics which only lasts seconds or minutes( no offence to those sports). Winning MD/WD + XD is extremely hard. Winning singles + any doubles is unheard due to different style of play.
Two nights ago, I watched his video again and became emotional again . Shared it to my uncles as I believe LD-LCW rivalry deserves more recognition in India. People here are mostly excited for tennis, football so Messi-Ronaldo, Federer-Nadal-Djokovic is all they know. If only LCW won one gold but that was the might of LD sigh it's like caning myself to admit time and again that LD was really untouchable when in form. We're going OT, I'll stop here
Swimming offers the most individual medals. Badminton too can if you expand to include: 1. Winner of the most tumbling net shots. 2. Winner of the most baseline shots 3. Winner of the most drop shots. Etc.. etc And maybe Winner by the non dominant hand.
Many strong players those days Sony Dwi Kuncoro Simon Santoso Park Sung Hwang Chen Hong Bao Chunlai Chen Jin Wong Chong Han Hafiz Hashim Kenneth Jonassen Jan etc
I can’t tell if you are serious or kidding around. To me VA’s smashes in Tokyo Olympic aren’t as good as his smashes at 2017 World Championships when he won it.
gymnastics. men compete on six pieces of apparatus: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar, whilst women compete on four pieces of apparatus: vault, uneven bars, beam and floor. adding the team & individual all-around competitions means men can win 8 and women 6. here's a sample of winter olympics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_skating_at_the_1980_Winter_Olympics the remarkable thing about long track skater eric heiden is in 1980 he won gold in all 5 events... sprints, mid-distance & long distance. only person to ever do it. incredible when you think about it.
VA’s stamina in the past has been his weakness. Watch his finals against Tian Houwei in Dubai. In long rallies, VA struggles to move because he becomes so out of breath. And then because he is out of breath, it costs him several more points until he finally regains some of his breath. Compare VA to say, Momota who never appears tired. Or to prime LD who never got tired too. Even prime Chen Long in 2014 to 2016 who never looked tired.
I am really impressed by Kevin Cordon. He was in striking distance of winning the 1st set against VA. It will be interesting to see his match against Ginting tomorrow.
