For the SYQ encounter with VA, it's hard to predict because as late as one month before the Olympics, Xia Xuanze was still unsure of SYQ's form and the extent of his post-injury recovery as there are too few international competition to gauge his condition, for playing against his fellow teammates in domestic events and simulation matches are simply not the same thing as the stakes involved and the pressure to perform aren't as unforgiving. I mean, your mental strength is not tested and there's no urgency to push yourself hard nor give of your very best (what for?).

What's more, the H2H between the two is 1 - 4 in favour of VA, worrisome, isn't it? It will be a crucial match to decide who goes to the final as I don't see either Heo Kwang Hee or Kevin Cordon getting in their way at the semifinals.

Not bad ah, Chen Long, after a narrow win in G1 by deuce 22-20, was in total command in G2 for a crushing 21-9 victory, in fact by reading Lee Cheuk Yiu's game well.

 

Just as I was thinking of Li Shifeng as I haven't come across any of his matches, I checked the results and found he, playing for Jiangxi, actually drubbed HKSAR's Lee Cheuk Yiu in two convincing straight sets by the score of 21-8 and 21-11 ! Hope to catch his match later on replays.
