Yeah ZN/ZYL has 1 more bronze though. isnt CHN has double XD winner last time for Olympic? I wonder if their style of play is better than. I think WYL/HDP style of play is more resembling to ZN/ZYL.
Yeah, but overall, on a per capita basis, HK is doing really well in badminton, given the population of its city. For a population of 8 million people, HK has multiple players that are in the top 10 - NKL and Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet, and some players just outside of top 10 like Cheung Ngan Yi (well, she was a top 20 player before) and Lee Cheuk Yiu. By far, HK is above average in the world of badminton, especially for a population of 8 million people. Arguably, if HK enters the Thomas Cup or Surdiman Cup, HK is probably on a comparable level to Thailand. You can't expect more from a population of 8 million people. You should read some of the blogs of the Canadian national players. I think Toby Ng wrote a blog post many years ago about the problems that Canadian national players have travelling to Asia to play in more SS tournaments, where they can improve. The plane tickets are expensive to Asia, and the travel time takes so long, especially if the Canadian national player is flying from Toronto. And then in Canada, they can't find any good competition to improve their skills. Canada is the polar opposite of HK. This is the point! The training environment sucks so much in Canada (because the competition is poor), that Michelle Li wanted to spend more time in HK to get better. HK has it good in badminton compared to Canada, believe me.
From the photo and not understanding Chinese, I would deduce : CQC : It's your fault. JYF : Fcuk you.
So ZSW/HYQ chose ends and chose the far side of the court... presumably to end on this near side anticipating a three-game match? A bit risky, no?
Wang and Huang in good conversation during the interval, Zheng and Huang very quiet - let's see how the 2nd game goes.
Yup, and Denmark is punching way above its weight in badminton performance on a per capita basis, just like HK. Having said that, Denmark has had a long badminton tradition. The Danes really do love their badminton.
