The question was about the retirement of Fuji and Kakiiwa. I think she was crying because her seniors were retiring.

She just said how she had trained together with them, how they always gave her advises personally in details, how they always cheered her up when she was feeling down. She admired them and respected them not only as medalists but also because she thought how great her seniors are as persons.

From what I've known, from June 04th, Yuki/Sayaka will move to a new club, name Marusugi Bluvic. All the coaching staff and 16 players of American Vape Gifu also move to this new club, due to financial difficulties which American Vape faced recently. The new contract will have effect until end of Dec, 2021. Wishing all the best for them :)

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong :p

Any insight on Hirota’s intense leg strapping today? Wasn’t able to watch the match but the scoreline seems pretty straightforward. Was she still moving well?

I haven't heard anything official yet.
But it's definitely a knee injury. In some close-up shots, it can clearly be seen that her right knee is seriously swollen. And there are so many instants when Fukushima has to run and cover shots that fly over Hirota's head.
My heart breaks for both of them. They work so hard to make it here.

Turns out it’s an ACL injury back in June that they say has recovered just in time for the Games. Really sad though cause apparently she’s not fully fit. The first real test will be Polii/Rahayu in a couple days.

Quite risky if that is an acl injury. No way she would have recovered in time if she only did it in June. She only risks doing more serious and permanent damage.

Might be a partial tear of ACL.

that brace looks really heavy. I suspect this is the end of the pairing.

She isn't moving properly at all. I was scared for her.

They will feel it in harder matches though.

Any chance of it getting better over the duration of the tournament?

Wait end of the pairing? You mean for this tourney only right. Not complete end? Is an ACL injury that severe? I know ligaments are tough to heal but considering the facilities they would have.
