After 2021 ended, BWF must seeking new flagship sponsor to replace HSBC, a daunting task to do in current flagging economy situation, they should axe the rebranded World Tour.

Badminton star Momota sparks stampede with coaching offer
    By AFP - August 19, 2020 @ 11:09am
    https://www.nst.com.my/sports/badmi...on-star-momota-sparks-stampede-coaching-offer

TOKYO: It's an irresistible prospect for budding badminton players – a chance to be coached by Japanese world number one Kento Momota, who has triggered thousands of responses by offering his services.

"Would anyone like to play badminton with me?" Momota wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

"I also want to teach people badminton. I want people to know how fun this is," added the badminton star, who was injured in a car crash in February in Malaysia.

Momota, a top gold medal hope for Japan at the now-postponed Tokyo Olympics, spent months recuperating after the crash, which killed the driver of his vehicle and left him with eye injuries.

His coaching offer – for just two lucky students – attracted a flood of applicants, ranging from parents applying for their children to fellow sports stars.

Olympic swimmer Daiya Seto, who won a bronze in the Rio Games for individual medley, tweeted: "Wanna do this!"

But Momota replied: "I don't want you because you might be too good at it!"

Former Japan international footballer Hiroshi Kiyotake also put up his hand, prompting Momota to offer a trade: "Let's do this in private. Teach me how to juggle a football."

And even Momota's national badminton teammate Kanta Tsuneyama weighed in asking for a shot.

Details are not yet decided, but Momota said he would wait until September before deciding which students to take.

The badminton star said in June he had fully recovered from the injuries he sustained in the crash, and was back on track for the Olympics.

Tokyo 2020 had been scheduled to open in July, but was postponed for a year over the coronavirus and is not set to begin on July 23, 2021.--AFP

Maybe Tsuneyama could ask Momota how to produce some deceptive dropshots ;)

    Kento Momota.JPG

This image of Kento Momota training with his NTT East badminton club members was shared by one @nadiasari2807 on Instagram about a day ago. It appears that Yonex has made a new pair of shoes for Kento Momota. It looks like the existing SHB65Z2 in a new colourway, but it may also be a facelift with some completely new design features. Difficult to tell from this image alone. Guess we just have to wait and see. Any thoughts?

Saw the foto on Facebook. Amazing record! Does this mean that he has won every tournament he played last year considering the period (9,5 months)?

    Momota Receives Guinness Honour
    18 November, 2020
    TEXT BY BWF STAFF
    https://bwfbadminton.com/news-single/2020/11/18/momota-receives-guinness-honour/

World No.1 Kento Momota’s stellar performance last year has been recognised by Guinness World Records. Momota, who won 11 tournaments in 2019, received a citation from the record-keeping organisation for “The most badminton men’s singles titles in a season”, which bettered the mark that was earlier set by Lee Chong Wei with 10 titles in 2010.

    ==============================================
*Congrats, thanks to his marvelous job in 2019!

Actually I wonder whether the Titles included all types or only Super 500 and above !.
If Any Momota fans here enlighten us with the list of tournaments he won, we would be very happy.

I know, just to underscore his "big highlight" title in 2019.

can this be "national sudirman cup".

    1 man for single's men
    1 women for single's women
2 men and 2 women for double match
1 man and 1 woman for mixed double.

each team will have 6 people, like "final sudirman cup"
