Hi, i need help regarding string a old silver carbonex 9. I tried stringing it 4 times but the main string kept snapping around the same spot.
    Tension was 25lbs by 27lbs

    These are the process

    1st Attempt:
    Pre-thread
Snapped half way while stringing the cross strings

    2nd Attempt:
    No pre-thread
Snapped half way while stringing the last few mains

    3rd Attempt:
    Checked and replaced faulty grommets
    No pre-threqd
Snapped half way while stringing the cross strings

    4th Attempt:
    Pre thread
Snappef half way while stringing the last few mains

    Anyone knows why?

I took photos of the area where the string kept snapping

Do i need to replace all the grommets?

Any help is appreciated as i really want to use this racket

    Thanks![IMG][IMG]

Tbh once you change the grommet then it should be good. I'll be looking for thing that can potentially cause any kind of string damage?
Are your clamps slipping at all? Check if clamps are too loose or too tight.
Are your breaks happening in shared holes? How do you thread your shared holes?

Clamps not slipping, not too tight from what i can feel. After i changed the grommets, the snap happened at the shared hole.

It could be your string, a bad reel, too old and/or too dry ...

so something has changed after you put in new grommets. Can you make a closeup picture (with good lighting) of the grommet from both sides of the frame where the string is snapping now? If the string is snapping repeatedly in the exact same spot and if that spot is located right at a grommet, then something is wrong with the grommet or the frame right at that spot.

I doubt the grommets are the culprit. I think it has to do with the starting routine of the first mains or a clamping/clamp issue. What string do you use? What type of clamps and starting routine? I experienced once Yonex flying clamps with sharp edges, which damaged the string and also in the beginning I started with non-diamond dusted clamps which were very difficult to adjust. Especially the more slippy and thinner strings were a pain. Too tight you crimped the string, too loose it slipped and teared of the coating. Especially at higher tensions it was a gamble if the job comes out done or it pops on machine. Are you sure no grommet popped out during tensioning? This can also damage string if grommets pop out during tensioning and string makes contact with the edge of the hole.

Just look for the snapping point...where does it lead to. After the clamp, to the grommet, to the gripper?

Hi recently just passed my friend to help me with the racket. He manage to string the racket with kizuna z58 @22lbs. He told me that the frame or the grommet holes are too sharp and need to be filed using a knife.

The string just recently snap due to miss hit. I restrung it myself using ultimax @22lbs and nothing went wrong.

My coach also told me that carbonex 8 and carbonex 9 tend to have the same problem with the strings snapping while stringing too.

Anybody here knows of this problem with the frame/grommet holes?

    Thanks![IMG][IMG]

I use fixed clamps for my stringing job. So far the other string jobs i done has not snap during my stringing job.

Every time my string snap while stringing was always on the old carbonex rackets.
