Well, a soft lockdown is a way to put it. The hospitals are still not overloaded, which is the whole idea to keep it so. Courts have decided a maximum of 50 people are allowed in the same location. But people seem to be more careful, so it's kind of self-regulating. I rarely see more than 15 people in the badminton halls with 15 courts. And all tournaments had to be cancelled. Tournaments means more people and that people travel from different cities. Since very few people are travelling inside the country now, the virus is very concentrated to Stockholm.

This is what UK tried to do but had to enforce stronger measures to avoid overwhelming the health system.

Good news from HK. After a few days of one community transmission in nearly a week, there is a plan to loosen up. Courts are planned to open on May 11 but the not more than groups of 4 rule will still apply. More details will come in the next few days I think

Well not exactly. In the UK the "herd immunity" was an outspoken strategy, but they probably did too little too late to slow it down, which made them change in panic. Here, they are applying restrictions one by one in a slow but steady pace. I guess how it turns out all depends on the people, the different situations, how crowded the cities are, social customs, etc, etc.
I think it's good that you can play badminton now, as long as you are very very careful with hand hygiene and limit the amount of players.

Yep. There has been some finger pointing and misinformation about who exactly was responsible for advice and also the provisioning of equipment. It's all a bit pointless with hindsight but there was complacency and ignorance because we were, apparently, distracted by brexit. I am still baffled that herd immunity was considered for so long. Nobody knew enough about the virus to support the strategy!

The layman in HK at that time when Boris Johnson first gave his press conference on that strategy just said “WTF??”

Bangkok plans to open courts on May 1st with very strict measures. Still unsure whether we have to wear masks while playing LOL.

I've seen videos from Korea where some players play with masks on and some without. I don't think it's mandatory, just a personal preference.

I think with some easing of shelter at home orders for the upcoming weeks and month, it'll be interesting to read here how each locality differs in how courts are or will enforce social distancing.

We have a review next Thursday, but our daily deaths, although starting to decrease, are still so high at 500+ (and that's just hospital numbers), so I think we'll still be in full lockdown until at least the end of May. Then I think we'll start to see the more important businesses re-open, with the leisure/entertainment industry being last to open.

Some people here still aren't taking it seriously, meeting with friends, going to parks drinking beer.. It's going to take a long time to get back to normal if people are treating it like a holiday.

no sign of any indoor fitness facilities opening up soon. the authority has been very scientific and cautious and we are one of the most well controlled area of the country. cases has been rather constant (around 30-40 new cases per day) in my county so they started opening up some extra activities like construction, landscaping.

Played singles for a solid hour yesterday. (Doubles not allowed unless same household.) Good to finally get a sweat after 6 wks! , and put my newly practiced grip tightening to a good test. Also have to thank TTY for being the model to follow for saving my own energy while depleting the opponent with deceptive shots.

Hmmm, best to watch and learn from the pro herself. Just google Tai TsuYing deception on youtube for videos. But you need to have the basic foundations first before you can mess around with your racket timing, direction, rapid acceleration/deceleration etc.
Hehe... 4-0 wins of 21 point games.

Hmmm... maybe start looking for actual opponents instead of victims?

Lol... He's actually 4-2 ahead of me in singles games previously, so now it's 4-6. We usually just play MD.

I attribute my recent success to binge watching daily TTY's matches during this lockdown, while dry swinging a racket to optimize grip tightening in my swing. I definitely won more points from fake smash drops, stop drops, and counter attack shots than from smashes.

One local sports center recently opened their courts but your only allowed to play singles.
It's much more expensive then clubs tho.
I've been there this week and it felt great to hit some real shuttles again.:D

After this long break I struggled less with overhead timing then expected.
Awareness of the court and aiming of shots however where a disaster.
Even though I did a lot of badminton specific exercise and cardio I still felt pretty slow and my legs got tired much too fast...

Can't wait for my club to get access to our courts again.

South Korea football league will resume. It stated spectators will watch the match from afar. Don't know how much afar?

German league Bundesliga is also slated to resume mid may (Reported by BT sport). Don't know whether it'll happen closed doors or not.
