VTZF2 black and LCW version have noticeably thinner shaft than the LD version. You can try to compare them in your local store if available. Stiffness is the same. BP I am not sure, but I read that LD version with yellow color has slightly higher BP compared to other versions.
Is this speculation or has someone measured it? Got any links to that info? I've heard and seen measured variation in balance point/swing weight of ZF2 which could be manufacturing variation or a slight difference between versions but never heard of different zf2 using different shaft thickness.
Swing weight is a great measurement too and in many ways more meaningful than balance point but sadly it's not easy to measure without special equipment. Balance point tells you the balance in relation to overall weight but not the actual weight of the head or swing weight. Grip choice effects balance point a lot but swing weight remains fairly constant with only slight variation on different strings and grip.
I didn't use a caliper. Just happened to be visiting my local badminton store and had a chance to compare them, visually I noticed the shaft thickness difference and when I touched it, I could feel the Lindan versions are slightly thicker. I think around 1mm difference.
So it's probably the paint job then. Could be a thicker coat of paint or even the colour difference black vs red/yellow/white as brighter colours will look thicker.
ZF2 LD comes in 3U and 4U. ZF2 LCW comes in 3U. ZF2 (standard version) is 3U and 4U. I think all models with the same weight are totally beside paint job. For example ZF2 LCW 3U is the same as ZF2 LD 3U - at least to specifications and feel on court. I have use both and now use ZF2 LD 4U, and prefer 4U because it is faster for doubles, and power is not so much worse like 3U.
I have the ZF2LD red and yellow 3U and it feels a lot heavier then the original ZF2 3U. I thought it was just me so I asked a few friends that use the ZF2 to try both and they also agreed that the ZF2LD red and yellow 3U were heavier then the ZF2 original.
it might be just production fault... You know +-2 both for weight & head heaviness. Maybe you happen to get +2 weight & +2 head heavy. As you own 2 of it, maybe its a fate
There is only one type of ZF2 racket, in 3U and 4U. Everything else are just different paint jobs. Manufacturers do not have time to produce so many varioations, only change colors and add famous names because it will sell better. So one more time: ZF2 4U = ZF2 4U LD ZF2 3U = ZF2 3U LD = ZF2 LCW 3U Period!
That's what I was alluding to, the paint job and extra vinyl may add 0.5-2g to the head weight of the LD version but the core racket is the same most likely. Infact I'd be surprised if it added more than 1g more likely closer to .5g difference if at all.
I think the same. Only paint job could make some difference. But sometimes production tolerance on the same racket too. One weird thing is that sometimes same product for different markets have smal difference in weights.
