    this time, yes, because mo was unlucky. 2017, mo got ban from his country and its his fault, there's no luck or unluck. So i consider it as a lost of mo from qualify round

    Momota wasn't the top player at beginning of 2018 when he started to play in the SS. If my memory is correct, Momota struggled at the Thailand and Malaysian open at the beginning of 2018. When Momota was banned in 2016, he still wasn't the best player in the world yet.

    Momota didn't become #1 the summer of 2018. So who knows if Momota would have won the WC in 2017, because he wasn't performing like a top player at the beginning of 2018. One thing though is that Momota's style counters Axelsen. So if Axelsen had met Momota in 2017, Momota's style may have knocked Axelsen out, not that Momota was the top player in the world in 2017.
