So who knows if Momota would have won the WC in 2017, because he wasn't performing like a top player at the beginning of 2018. One thing though is that Momota's style counters Axelsen. So if Axelsen had met Momota in 2017, Momota's style may have knocked Axelsen out, not that Momota was the top player in the world in 2017.
