The All England should be going ahead. It won’t be cancelled unless the Public Health in England think it’s a significant problem in the next few days. The players will be desperate to get more Olympic ranking points and definitely play. Quite a lot would probably even accept playing without an audience should it come to that.
the players aren't even thinking about the audience. we are irrelevant relative to what's at stake for them.
Hi guys, I'm selling an All England Category A tickets block 9 Upper finals day ticket (bought it for 70 pounds) for 50 pounds, please contact me if interested.
Does anybody know if the AE is on telly in the UK? I managed to find the German Open and set it to record... ironically.
Dramatic Few Weeks Leading Into All England https://bwfworldtour.bwfbadminton.c.../dramatic-few-weeks-leading-into-all-england/ Saturday, March 7, 2020 TEXT BY DEV SUKUMAR | BADMINTONPHOTO ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Given the challenges posed by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, and the cancellation of a few events in the Olympic qualifying period, the All England assumes added importance. Players who would have been counting on those events will feel an extra sense of urgency to be at their best in Birmingham. Among those who need a strong showing are Rio 2016 women’s doubles gold medallists Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi. They will have to vault over at least one of their compatriot pairs (Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota or Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara) in the top 8 of the rankings. Several other contenders might well be making similar calculations. Other topliners confirmed for the tournament are Pusarla V. Sindhu, Carolina Marin, Viktor Axelsen, Chou Tien Chen, Chen Yu Fei, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong. There’s been a handful of late withdrawals too including Indian players Chirag Shetty/Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Attri Manu/Reddy B. Sumeeth (both men’s doubles), HS Prannoy, Sameer Verma and Sourabh Verma (all men’s singles). “Everyone is worried about the COVID-19 outbreak. In the United Kingdom, the number of infected has touched 90, so it is a concern. Also, we had to travel via Dubai Airport, which is one of the busiest airports, it makes one vulnerable,” Chirag told media yesterday. With the cancellation of the YONEX German Open 2020 (Cancelled), the All England will be the stage for them to gauge their form. This is particularly true of the Chinese and Hong Kong China teams, who had to forgo the Badminton Asia Team Championships due to the Philippines government imposing a 14-day quarantine for visitors from specific countries. The Chinese team arrived in the UK in mid-February to prepare for the European leg of the World Tour, and as such, should be fighting fit for the All England as they would have acclimatised to the conditions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And live stream the BWF feed from the TV court on the BBC Sport app. The only problem is they tend to broadcast for a set amount of time. If any matches overrun (and they always do) then you miss the later games.
OMG! a lot of Indian players withdrew and Stuneyama will take advantage. Look at the draw, Nishimoto will meet Ng Ka Long at the first round. If Nishimoto cannot go though semi-final, I think that his chance to take part Olympic is over. The distance between him and Stuneyama is around 7000 points now.
the three withdrawals (prannoy, varma, verma) will be replaced by the top 3 players of the reserve list. that is, Caljouw, Phetpradab and Heo. I have a reliable source telling me that these 3 players already got promoted into the main draw. so no walkovers!
Wow. The whole of Italy just went into lockdown A lot can happen in the coming one week of the tournament.
Just realised that AE started tomorrow. I thought all tournaments started on Tuesday and high tier tournaments divide their R1s to two days. Is it a special case just for this year?
Moderator: not sure if this is the right place. kind of last minute. Had to cancel my trip. :-( so my season ticket is free to anyone who wants them. First come first serve.
Classy kit from Yonex to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the All England. It seems like all Yonex athletes received one and will wear it during the tournament.
So where will it be possible to watch everything? BWF youtube has only coverage starting from QFs right? It's a shame that we cannot watch every match from the best tournament of the season.
