Hey guys, I have a question. Which shoes should I wear while playing on cement court? Should they be Badminton shoes or can they be any shoes like football or tennis shoes designed for multi-directional movements?
Hi Ketan, I think you can still use badminton shoes or court shoes. Tennis shoes should be okay too. But you may not get the same grip or traction as playing in an indoor surface and the durability of the shoe will be affected as the rougher surface will damage the shoe more Cheers!
Badminton shoes would be a massive waste on a cement court. The rough surface will destroy the grip really quickly, which will ruin the benefits of a badminton shoe.
My badminton shoes are too slippery when i play on cement court, should i get tennis or basketball shoes?
I would say that you still should wear a badminton shoes in this matter. In my hometown, all of the courts are made out of concrete with smooth finishing. Tennis shoes are indeed have more durable outsole, but they are heavier, has less flexibility compare to badminton shoes. My suggestion is to pick badminton shoes with good cushioning, since concrete is hard on knees. Based on my own experience, Victor shoes with colored outsole grips are more durable than the standard yellow colored gum. I'm wearing Victor SH-A960, and the grip is excellent in this kind of court and the outsole's also very durable. In addition, please make sure that you properly clean the concrete court before you play. Because dust/ micro pebble on this kind of court will result in more friction that will lead to more wear/ chip on outsole.
Agree with you. Tennis shoes are heavier and you would probably want to get a shoe with good cushioning and stability if not your knees will hurt. Durable upper. Your shoes will definitely not last as long as playing in an indoor court. I have not played in a concrete court in Singapore before as they are not very popular. Would recommend the ASICS Gel-Rocket though as it is not very expensive and is very durable
On hard courts, better to have a shoe with emphasis on cushioning to reduce impact on your knees. And also knee and elbow guards to prevent bruises!
Hello all I have a query , I play in cement court and no matter which shoe i buy it wont last more than 6 months .. i prefer tennis shoes not for the grip but for better outside protection since its a rough cement court. this might sound cheap but has anyone tried and tested something which can withstand cement court . my left shoe looks brand new and the right shoe looks torn mostly on toe cap region . i dont mind buying a new shoe but its not economical ... i have tried various tapes , 3M tapes , double sided tapes everything but nothing stays against rough cement . all the players sufffer the same but the level is different for different players... when you lunge you drag the back foot so wear and tear is common... any suggestions what can material can prevent wear and tear against cement court.??
