Don't get any risk to buy ticket at location/venue, long queue surely with no guarantee that you get the ticket.
Maybe you can try on June tournament : INA Open (Super 1000).

Tickets sell out, even for Wednesday (round of 32) and Thursday (round of 16) ? I always a lot of empty seats at other S500 and S750 tournaments for the round of 32 and round of 16. Is it different in Indonesia?

Badminton is second popular sport in Indonesia, abundant of avid fans who eagerly to watch badminton LIVE at Istora plus the stadium seat capacity isn't too large/spacious.

There's at least 1000 fans that attend qualifying. By around early afternoon on Wednesday, the stadium will be packed.

Badminton is so popular in Indonesia that foreign visitors find it difficult to purchase tickets.
Perhaps the organizers can allocate some tickets online for foreign fans to avoid disappointment.

A nice idea but hard to expect local organizer could distribute ticket for foreign spectators, the stadium is quite small to stage BWF top tier tournament, there's no seat numbers.

This tournament had been elevated into one of BWF top-tier events, part of Super 500 since 2018 edition that automatically will attract many big names to participate than previous Grand Prix Gold level. Online ticket has mostly sold out (only ticket box is still available) as consequence for strong enthusiasm of local fans following badminton massive popularity in Indonesia.

As reported earlier, men's singles magnet Kento Momota decided to withdraw here prior to car accident on Monday morning in KL. Chance is wide open for other competitors, particularly home hopefuls duo Anthony Ginting and Jonatan Christie. All four Indonesian MS will face Indian hurdle on opening round, what a coincidence of draw. Viktor Axelsen-Lin Dan will be one of highlighted match in early round, also defending champion Anders Antonsen will start his journey against Son Wan Ho. Second seed Chou Tien Chen meets tricky test, Hong Kong explosive player Lee Cheuk Yiu.

World number one Chen Yufei who's being unbeaten since Fuzhou China Open last November is predicted to continue her fantastic form in Jakarta. Still remembered on memory what a tragic ending occurred in WS final last year when Carolina Marin had severe injury and underwent surgery subsequently, the much anticipated Marin-Okuhara clash may happen in last sixteen. An interesting first round encounter will look forward Akane Yamaguchi against former WJC Gregoria Mariska.

Japan's leading combinations are the notable absentees in men's doubles category making top half draw is limping with title holder Gideon/Sukamuljo become hot favourites to secure final spot. A clear mission for INA pairs to make amends at home tournament considering the unexpected MAS Masters huge blow.

World Champions Matsumoto/Nagahara return to court after absent last week in Kuala Lumpur, a noteworthy match to watch in opening round is none but replay of newly-crowned MAS Masters champions Li WM/Zheng Yu versus second seed Fukushima/Hirota. The Chinese back-ups scored sensational run to topple four higher-ranked combinations en route to top podium.

World's best mixed doubles, Zheng SW/Huang YQ and Wang YL/Huang DP will take on complicated task, home representatives to begin INA Masters campaign, challenging task for players who can't concentrate in very noisy stadium with ferocious spectators. Host main pillars, Jordan/Oktavianti are expected to succeed and back to normal after shocking lousy performance on previous week.

Would not be surprised if twin towers wins easily in straight sets

I agree. I don't think he's using delay tactics like Choi does. He lost confidence in his serves hence taking more time.

Last year I bought the ticket at the morning on the venue though (for 2 people).
I came about 2 hours beforehand, and there are still a lot of tickets available.
then I just used the remaining time to stroll around, have some lunch or something

Just checked my photos, I went there for the Friday session.
So I would say that you can get ticket for the previous days at the day of the tournament, at least come about 2 hours earlier
