Hello I'm new to the forum so please direct me to the right thread if it exists already. I've seen threads about the best shuttles but since I'm an intermediate player (B/C grade) and play once a week I'm assuming the top shuttles aren't worth the price for my level. I normally use cheap shuttles like the RSL standard or Yonex aerosensa 10 but I read that it's a false economy because they aren't as durable so it's better to invest in a slightly more expensive but better quality shuttle. Could you please rank/group the shuttles below (durability/quality)? NZ prices vary quite a bit so don't take price into account e.g. aerosensa 20 is $40-50 while RSL no1 tourney is $38 Aerosensa 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 Aeroclub TR League 7 RSL standard RSL ace RSL official RSL silver feather RSL no1 tourney RSL classic RSL supreme RSL ultimate These are the ones I can get easily, I haven't seen any other brands like aeroplane or chao pai in NZ
I would say that if you and the people you play with can hit shuttles cleanly, then you should just buy the best shuttles as they will last the longest plus give the best playing characteristics. It's definitely a false economy to go for cheap shuttles in this case. If however you frequently hit the frame or hit the feathers, then any mid range shuttle is sufficient, depending on your finances. It's usually not worth buying terrible shuttles as the flight is just so bad it's not even real badminton anymore. I would see if you can get aeroplane EG1130 black as they are very good shuttles and quite cheap compared to other top grade shuttles.
Thanks! Sadly no aeroplane brand in NZ Could you please advise which of the ones I listed are mid range?
RSL No.1 tourney was my first choice of best price/quality. But de RSL Official is much cheaper, quality not as good as No.1 but ok.
Thanks, I think I'll try the RSL classic next because it's only $2 difference between no1 and classic
For intermediate to high intermediate...and even advanced training, a good shuttle offering good economy is Yonex AS20/AS30, or RSL No1 Tourney/Classic. You get marginal extra performance in flight and very similar durability in going any higher, but the price will rise a lot more.
You may want to check for hybrid shuttle King king 500 or Forza hybrid They are great value and feeling isn't too bad, it feels just like 100% duck feather shuttle (cheap feather shuttles) They last longer than feather shuttles at the same price tag and the feeling is kind of the same. I would highly recommend it if you don't play in tournaments. Fyi I practice with them even if I play once a week in tournament or club competition where they are not allowed and I don't feel bad about it.
new zealand shuttlecock market is small, and also the sell price is higher. as a factory , we tell you that The middlemen are too greedy。so not other brand shuttlecock want to come into the market.
